It is an opportunity to raise awareness of and show appreciation for those in caring roles.
For carers across the Goulburn Valley and North East, Inspired Carers has been a helping hand since 1989.
And this year’s National Carers Week coincides with its 30th anniversary.
Originally known as the Goulburn Valley Support Group for Children with Special Needs, Inspired Carers is an independent not-for-profit providing support to carers and families of vulnerable children with additional care needs.
Based in Shepparton, Inspired Carers works in close co-operation with a network of parent support co-ordinators as well as state and national programs to provide resources and deliver training and events.
“We aim to listen to and support carers from Shepparton to Wodonga, Mansfield to Cobram and everywhere in between,” program manager Nicole O’Brien said.
“We offer free services for carers and children including the Strengthening Parent Support Program and My Time networking sessions.
“We also run education programs such as Healthy Mothers Healthy Families and Think About the Future career information session, as well as guiding carers through the myriad of resources and services available through the NDIS.”
Inspired Carers is hosting a brunch at Hock the Ruby, Tallarook on October 18 from 10am.
Cost is $5 per person and attendees need to RSVP to manager@inspiredcarers.org.au
