Monday August 5 Club Challenge saw President Darren Thompson get over the line against ultra-consistent Debbie Harbrow in a black ball match. Both Deb and Darren were in good form as they each won 2 matches to get to the final table.
Social Play on Wednesday, August 7 saw Darren Edwards, who usually only ventures out on Monday nights make an exception to his rule and come out a winner over Daryl McKernan.
No word yet on whether this will become a regular occurrence for Darren but well played to you both on this result.
Monday, August 12 saw low numbers but close matches in a Diggers Tribute round robin event. Deb Harbrow potted the last ball of the night to claim an aggregate points victory with Nev Page playing bridesmaid.
Nev was relegated to runner up again in Wednesday, August 14 social play when Michael Barclay played a super second half of the final frame to collect the chocolates.
The next big club event in the Spring pairs, which kicks off on Monday, December 19. Teams are already jostling for any advantage they can gain before the first break and an abundance of mind games are already in play.
Sportsbet is yet to frame its market but big showings are expected from the Deb Harbrow/Gus McMillan and Daryl McKernan/Jake Thompson combinations.

How long have you been playing snooker and where have you played in the past?
We were very lucky to have a table at our family home so I played a lot of pool there and in various social scenarios when I was younger. This is my first ever competition-based club.

What do you enjoy most about playing at Club Mulwala Snooker Club and what do you think are the best things about it?
I enjoy spending a couple of nights every week with other people in the club and learning about the game. In addition, the facilities are great and there are plenty of chances to try my luck against much better players through our handicapping system.
Best tip you have ever received and how it has helped your game?
How to play safety shots and the value of setting up snookers, particularly in close matches.
Any dirt on other members?
There are 2 long term members who are both over the age of 80 and take great delight in beating me regularly.
