And didn’t he make up for lost time! His 4-iron tee shot on the Black Bull Golf Course’s 4th, par 3, 164 metres – the first hole in the course’s Bull Ring – went in the hole and he received a $50,000 BMW (X1 sDrive18i with 5 years free servicing) for his achievement.
The 52-year-old, who plays off a four handicap, hit into a slight breeze over the water and saw the ball’s flight. “I didn’t see it land but my playing partners said it landed five to seven metres from the pin, had a little skip and went in!” he told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“I knew of the BMW up for grabs. I walked around the car prior to my shot. It’s just magnificent and I say a big ‘thank you’ to Shepparton BMW.”
Hocking started his golf at Benalla 37 years ago as a 15-year-old and for the past 22 years has operated the pro shop. In a social round at Benalla many years ago he scored a hole-in-one.
Hocking’s ace last week was during the Shepparton BMW Qualifying Tournament in Yarrawonga at the Black Bull Golf Club in Silverwoods Resort.
“As part of the day I put up a brand new BMW to the value of $50,000 as a hole-in-one prize on the fourth hole,” Dealer Principal Aaron Brain explained.
“Lucky for us and one of the participants the prize went off with Wayne Hocking, a local Benalla resident, hitting a hole-in-one.
“What makes it even more special is that Wayne works at the Benalla Golf Club and runs the golf shop, and has been involved in the sport for over 30 years.”
