Tamlin and her horse Peptos Roanie Roc (aka Charles), took out round one of the Open Divisional with the fastest time of round one with a 17.355 and also won the second round with the fastest time of the finals with a 17.221.
Tamlin told the Australian Barrel Horse Association, the journey to get to this win has been tough but the rewards have been worth it.
“Winning this event was amazing and really overwhelming,” Tamlin said.
“There is nothing more satisfying than working from the bottom and finally reaching the top, and for any competitors out there that don’t believe they can get there just keep working hard and know quitting is never an option.
“Thanks to everyone who cheered us on.”
Close friend Amy Burns said Tamlin was a greatly humble person and she was immensely proud of Tamlin for her magnificent achievement.
“Tam is a very humble person and isn’t one to blow her own trumpet but this win is enormous and she has worked hard with this horse for many years.”
Tamlin took home $2299.92 for winning the event plus an extra $250 cash from the Australian Quarter Horse Association for taking out the fastest time, as well as numerous buckles and prizes.
She will be heading off to Warwick in a few weeks to compete in the National Rodeo Finals for Barrel Racing where only the top 15 in each rodeo field from throughout Australia are invited to compete.
