After months of gruelling training in Albury, Mornington Peninsula and Yarrawonga all her hard work has finally paid off returning home with a Gold medal for C grade doubles, a Silver medal for C grade women singles and three bronzes for Under 21 mixed doubles, B grade doubles and Under 21 women’s doubles.
This tournament provided Amber with the opportunity to play a vast range of opponents from across New Zealand as well as the opportunity to play alongside players from Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
This tournament provided an eye opener for Amber to observe matches played by the top players of New Zealand and those who are heading to the Tokyo Olympics 2020 qualifying rounds.
Amber would like to thank her head coach Sam Palmer for welcoming her to their team down at Mornington Peninsula and giving her all the tools she needed for her international tournament.
“I would like to say a big thank you to Yarrawonga Mulwala Table Tennis Association for all their support and help over the years,” Amber said.
“Thank you also to The Godfathers, The Lioness, The Lions club, CWA, Yarrawonga Show Society, Swinger Social Golf Club, Lake Mulwala Hotel, Black Bull Golf Club, Ricey’s Repairs and Yarrawonga Mulwala Table Tennis association for their contribution to the trip, without them the trip would not have been possible to attend.”
Amber is looking forward to taking a quick break before getting back into training ready for the team selection of the 2020 Australian Youth/Senior Nationals in Brisbane.
