Ovens and Murray Ladies Season Opening - Five teams from YMGCR travelled to Corowa Civic on September 11 for the season opening. It was a lovely sunny day, and everyone had a great time.
Edna James, Mary Essex, Barbara Verbunt and Shirley Potter were the Runner Up team for the day.
Club Events - The first rounds of the 100 Up have been completed for both Ladies and Men. Qualifiers for the Ladies are Carolyn Reilly, Betty Richmond, Marie Whitehead, Wendy Liddell, Robyn Moore, Claire Sanders, Anne Miles, and Laureen Smith.
Qualifiers for the Men are Andy Lefevre, Bob Liddell, Don Ellis, Jim Lefevre, Greg Green, Tony Durkin, Gavin Borwick, and Daryl Richmond as best Runner Up.
O & M Region v Riverina District /Albury District - Congratulations to Anne Miles, Claire Sanders, Laureen Smith, Carolyn Reilly, and Sue Middleton who have been selected to play for O&M on October 13 at Holbrook against Riverina District.
Congrats also to Gary Sanders who has been selected to play for O&M at Holbrook against Albury Districts on the same day.
State Selection - Anne Miles and Carolyn Reilly have been selected for the Victorian Over 60 Women’s Team to play at Ettalong NSW in October.
Weekend Practice Match - The bus for Wangaratta will leave the Club at 11am on Saturday, September 21.
If you are not travelling on the bus could you please let John Mc Gough know well before departure time on 0433005449.

Club Mulwala Outdoor Bowls
The weather continues to be very good for bowls, with all planned events able to be completed this week.
Club Event – Tuesday, September 10 saw a very good turnout for the first club event of the season.
Drawn Mixed Triples were played on wonderful greens, very competitive matches and good sportsmanship were the order of the day.
Winners were Loris Lochhead, Jan Morton, and Graham Albert. Runners up were Graeme Arnold, Judy Laughlin and Jan Martin. Well done to all players.
Saturday - On Saturday, September 14 a full complement of bowlers travelled to Cobram for a full on practice, the blend on old and new members was great to see.
Cobram Bowls Club were exceptional hosts for the day, the greens were in exceptional condition and the atmosphere was welcoming and the bowls challenging, a perfect lead up to the coming season.
Following the challengers and fun on the green the group were provided with snacks and enjoyed a few drinks and much chatter with the hosts.
Big thanks to Mark Smith for arranging the day and driving the bus.
It turned out to be a very bad and frustrating day for one of the clubs bowlers to return to the club and find a runaway car had severely damaged his vehicle and several others.
Sunday - Sunday saw the early round of the men’s 100 up completed with the next rounds being played next Sunday at 10am.
A big thank you to the markers Loris, Nola, and John who turned out to support the players on the day.
Pennant: A full practice match was held at Barooga last Saturday, September 14.
An interclub practise will be held this Saturday, September 21 followed by a bbq lunch.
Names need to be down by Thursday so everyone can be catered for.
Yarrawonga Bowls
Pennant Practice games – the sheets are up for those wishing to play. Saturday, September 21 will be at Chiltern, 10am start, uniform, travelling by bus.
The time the bus leaves will be posted on the sheet as soon as it has been decided.
Tuesday, October 8 at YMGCR, more on this one next week.
There is also a sheet up for uniforms. If you need a new item, you will need to get your order in asap as it takes approximately three to four weeks for them to arrive. Speak to Ros King if you have any queries.
Social bowls results – Monday, September 9 – Winners – M Oakes and D Boothey. Runners up – J and R Hermassoo. The jackpot was not claimed and will be carried forward to next Monday.
Wednesday, September 11 was the 2 bowl triples tournament – winners were Tait. Carrol and Woods.
Runners up were Murray Scown team and thirs were P Humphries, R Sheridan and M Reilly.
The best 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th game winners were the teams of D Dighton, K McQualter, R Jeffcott and E Edwards.
Saturday, September 14 – winners – J Ramsdale, B Owen and K McQualter.
Runners up were N Marsden, E Scott and R Sheridan.
Two teams were in the running for runners up with the same amount of points.
Commiserations to E Edwards team for missing out by the smallest of margins.
The jackpot was claimed and shared by the runners up team and R Neilson, S Maddox and E Edwards.
This week’s games – Wednesday, September 18 – Jackpot triples (numbers permitting), Saturday, September 21 – social bowls. For those not going to Chiltern and would like to play, numbers permitting of course.
Monday September 23- 2-4-2. These games start at 12.30pm and names need to be down by 11am on the day.
