After the 81 nine-hole golfers played their last competition for 2019 last Thursday, their leaders presented a cheque for $1,000 to Friends in Common.
“We decided that with the little extra funds we had we’d make a donation to a local charity,” immediate past Nine-Holers captain and now vice-captain Col Rosser said.
“Friends in Common do a great job in town supporting people with cancer. Society is a better place having a great organisation such as Friends In Common. Congratulations on the great job they do.”
Col, who was instrumental in coming up with the idea of a donation to Friends in Common, and captain Terry Duffy, presented the cheque to Bernadette Fraser and Maureen Knott, vice-president and committee member of the charity organisation.
Bernadette expressed her appreciation on behalf of the committee, carers and each recipient. “Thank you all for your kindness,” she told the Nine-Holers.
“This money will go a long way towards accommodation costs at Hilltop (Hilltop – Albury Wodonga Patient and Care Accommodation Centre) in Albury and travel associated with treatment.
“Thank you to Terry and the committee, and all the nine-holers for your generosity.”
