Lakers U18 Boys victorious

By Yarrawonga Chronicle

Last weekend saw 11 Lakers representative teams compete in the Wodonga Basketball Tournament. From very early Saturday morning, teams were playing all across the border cities, with early results showing both wins and losses.

As the tournament progressed all players came up against very healthy competition, with all teams showing great sportsmanship and determination.

The Under 16 girls coached by Neil Walker made it through to the semifinal and put up a great effort despite being defeated by Shepparton.
However, YM Under 18 boys who are coached by John Burrows made it through to the division 2 grand final.

Coming in as the underdogs against an unbeaten Tumut Timberwolves, the Lakers came out victorious after playing some great team basketball 26 - 19.

Congratulations to Josh McInness who took out the MVP in the final.
Thanks to sponsors, coaches, team managers and the representative committee for administering all teams through the tournaments this season.

Good luck to all teams as the club look towards the Benalla tournament in two weeks.
