The clubs annual Charity Day tournament was held on Sunday August 11.
Being a dull miserable day, it was pleasant to be indoors at Club Mulwala.
Teams competing came from Benalla, Wodonga, SS&A, Howlong, Corowa, Wunghu, Moama and Mulwala.
We had two fills. The winners with 49pts were a Mulwala team – Noel Owen – Reg Bryce – Joye Bruce – Val Bryce.
Runner Up with 45pts were a Howlong team – Rhonda Broadford – Jan Bramson – Di Wasley – Greg Warwick.
Thirds was a Mulwala team with 43pts – Chris Wilson – Fran Smith – Gwen Owen – Joan Wilson.
Fourth was a Benalla team with 40pts – Lorna Brown – Val Hagg – Reece Edwards – M Cromic.
The clubs charity this year was Friends in Common, and we were happy to hand over a cheque for $1300 to help with the wonderful work they do.
A lovely afternoon tea brought an enjoyable day to a close.
No bowls Monday night August 12.
Thursday, August 15 results – Winners with 33pts were Reg Bryce – Marg Hill – Wilf Owen – Noeline Leary.
Runner Up with 22pts + 1 were Marna Tomlinson – Pat Crothers – Dot Shanks.
Third with 22pts – 5 were Val Bryce – Jill Carr – Lyn Ryan.
Club Pairs start Monday night August 26. If you intend on playing you must have your name in before the draw is done on Friday morning, August 23.

These games start at 12.30pm and names need to be down by 11am on the day.

YMGCR Bowls
Members will be saddened to hear of the death of member Colin Smith. Private funeral.
Come and remember Col in the upstairs lounge at the club on Friday, August 23, 2pm.
Wednesday, August 14 – 33 players enjoyed the sunshine.
Winners with + 19 – Greg Green and Terry Matthews. Runners up Wayne Lowrie. Jackpot ($123) not claimed.
Sunday, August 18 – 16 players finished before the rain.
Winners with +3 were Mary Essex and Bill Houghton. Runners up with +25 were Greg Green and Norm Windebank.

Spectators should witness a high standard of bowling for the Joy Johnson Memorial to be played on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25.
Bowlers from Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales will compete for prize money kindly donated by local sponsor Lekeal.
Also the Shepparton Bowls “pop up” shop will be in the Willow Room for purchasing all bowls apparel over the weekend.
Lastly, get your name down for Opening Day on Sunday, September 8.
Club Mulwala Outdoor Bowls
A quiet week for the club this week, Wednesday was the day our friend and greenkeeper Ged was laid to rest.
We were proud along with his cricket club mates to form a guard of honour for him. Rest in Peace Ged.
Social:
Tuesday, July 13 again saw good numbers on the green, but it is a pity there are not more members supporting the organisers.
Winners on the day were John and Doug Mctier. Runners up were Peter Humphreys and Graham Albert.
The jackpot did not go off.
Remember Social bowls are on each Tuesday at 12.30pm, (please try and be in attendance and paid up by 12.15).
Sheets are on the notice board behind the escalators, format will always be determined by the number of bowlers on the day.
Visitors and single entries are always welcome.
Sunday, August 18 saw low numbers this week however those who played were lucky with weather.
Winners were Kerry Merrett and Jason Milich. Runners up Jan and Cliff Morton.
The jackpot did not go off.
