YMGCR Bowls

By Yarrawonga Chronicle

Annual meeting

The postponed annual meeting was finally held on Sunday. This will result in a shortened year for those elected to this year’s committee. We wish them well and good judgements in their time in office. The Executive of the new Committee are:

President - John McGough, Secretary - Andy Le Fevre.

Vice President - Greg Fisher, Treasurer - TBA.

Past President Kerry Kinnane tabled his report thanking all his committee and other helpers throughout the year. The report also announced YMGCR Board approval of $8000 towards the renewal of the lighting of no. 1 green.

Kerry also recognised the weekend B2 premiership team for their efforts and presented a team photo to each player.

Presentations of Bowls Victoria badges were also made to bowlers who have attained the status of OBE.

Presentation of 2019-20 event winners

YMGCR President Gill Cunningham joined with President Kerry to present all awards to winners and runners up for each event. Competition throughout the year was fierce and quality matches were played in all events. Well done to you all.

State Events

Bowls Victoria have this week postponed all State Championship matches scheduled for July. Many bowlers were involved.

“With increased cases of COVID-19 in hotspot areas, Bowls Victoria must consider player welfare and our Duty of Care for members playing in BV events.”

Disappointment for some, and relief for others.

Winners - G Hart, B Tennyson +5, Runners Up - B Evans, T Durkin   +5.

Jackpot - Won by W Lowrie and T Baxter.

Thanks

As this is my final report for YMGCR Bowls I would like to thank Emma Prior, Moose Muir and Les Garbutt from the Chronicle for their help whilst I was in this position.

I also thank members of the club for their kind words of encouragement and information for reports.

Stay healthy and good bowling.

Robyn Balfour.
