Due to the bad weather Wednesday bowls was called off, but in good news the new Ladies Match Committee had their first meeting last week and it’s good to see this enthusiastic group have hit the ground running.
From this Friday, July 23 (Covid permitting) a game of nominated 3 bowl pairs off 18 ends will commence starting at 12.30pm.
A list of names will be place on the 2 notice boards and they are going to try a new format.
There will be 3 prizes; first prize and runners up will be drawn out from all the winning teams.
The third prize will be drawn out from the losing teams; prize money will vary due to how many players are participating (the idea of this prize breakup is to give a lot more teams a chance of winning).
It’s fantastic that these girls are trying to get Friday games reintroduced, so to all members and to the other 2 clubs in town, let’s get behind each other and give them all the support we can. After all we are a small town and another day of bowls can only be good.
In other news Anne Miles flew to Tasmania last Thursday for a series of test matches against Tassie. There are 2 other O&M girls in the squad Kylie Whitehead from Wodonga and Jodie Freud from Wangaratta and it just goes to show how strong the women are in the O&M zone.
Also, there are the Weekend and Midweek pennant sheets up for the next season, so please put your name up because the season starts on Saturday, October 9 and Midweek starts on October 13.
