What began as a passion for paddling has grown into five decades of memories, friendships, and a strong community spirit, all of which will be honoured during a special three-day celebration in Yarrawonga.
Canoe Club secretary Tim Roadley said all past and present members, friends, and supporters were invited to be part of this golden anniversary.
“It will be a special occasion where the local paddling community can get together as one, share many past stories and celebrate this important milestone of the club,” Tim said.
The festivities begin on Friday, January 16, with a Commemorative Paddle setting off at 5pm from the Yarrawonga Holiday Park.
This symbolic journey on the Murray River pays tribute to the countless kilometres paddled and the stories created along the way.
On Saturday evening a highlight will be a guest presentation by Dr Richard Barnes, the first person to kayak solo, non-stop, and unassisted from Australia to New Zealand.
On Saturday, the celebration continues from 3pm at the Yacht Club before moving to Thyme for Coffee Café for an evening of food, conversation, and inspiration.
The afternoon will feature the MQ Sit-on-Top Clash, offering participants a chance to compete, or simply enjoy some friendly fun on the water.
