A Reserve put Rutherglen to the sword

The YMCC A Reserve team has started their premiership defence in emphatic style with a 56-run victory against Rutherglen in WDCA’s first game of the season.

The match was played at Lonsdale Reserve in Mulwala under sunny skies.

The star with the bat was Brendan Hill who wound back the clock with a timeless innings of 65 from 90 balls.

Hill’s innings was the mainstay of the innings, although he did receive support from Hunter Frauenfelder with 19 from 46 and new recruit Andrew Dishot with 17 from 20 balls.

The YMCC made 8 for 133 from their 36 overs with Rutherglen conceding 21 extras to be the second highest score for the innings.

With the ball, the YMCC were ruthless dismissing Rutherglen for just 77, with the Rutherglen opening bat contributing 28.

The wickets were shared for the YMCC with Jyda House taking 3 for 12 off 8 overs; Tom Lovell 3 for 14 off 7 overs; Andrew Dishot 2 for 12 off 4 overs; Ben Pickering 1 for 0 off 1 ball; Steve Lappin 1 for 19 off 8 overs and Van Kreek 0 for 17 off 2 overs.

The A Reserve team take on Ovens Valley at Stan Hargreaves Oval in Yarrawonga this Saturday afternoon starting from 1:30pm.

The next matches for most grades are to be played on Nov 12 except A Grade and A Res ~ weather permitting.

Opponents may change due to fixture changes.
