A total of 1,450 players will compete across 106 events on 59 courts over four days, with an incredible 1,974 matches scheduled.
The tournament’s popularity is unmatched. This year, the player capacity was entirely filled by club members and participants from 2025, with no general entries required, a rarity in competitive tennis.
Adding to the demand, there is a waiting list of over 400 players, highlighting just how sought-after a spot in the draw has become.
Venue preparation
The grounds team, led by greenskeeper Michael Sheahan, has done an exceptional job preparing the venue.
The 23 grass courts have been meticulously maintained, while the football oval has been transformed into a first-class tennis arena.
The quality of the courts is a major reason players return year after year.
Special thanks go to club volunteers, who dedicated the weekend to readying the oval. Saturday was spent marking the courts, with Sunday focused on assembling nets and completing a general clean-up.
Long-serving committee member Peter Thomas noted it was the quickest the oval had ever been prepared—a testament to the community’s incredible effort.
Throughout Easter weekend, an estimated 150 volunteers will continue to support the tournament, ensuring it runs smoothly.
Their contribution is invaluable; the event simply wouldn’t be possible without them.
Off-court highlights
Players and spectators alike will enjoy excellent food and refreshments, with Sweet and Sour Sisters returning as caterers. Their quality offerings are consistently praised by past participants.
Competition for all ages
The tournament welcomes players of all ages and abilities, from 7 to 82 years old, with events ranging from Open through D Grade, alongside numerous junior and veteran categories. Singles, doubles, and mixed doubles ensure there’s something for everyone.
The community is encouraged to come along and enjoy the weekend action. With the weather forecast looking ideal, it promises to be a spectacular event.
Presentation night celebrates club achievements
The Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club’s Presentation Night was held last Sunday, celebrating a fantastic year. Attendees enjoyed pizzas and a remarkable array of homemade desserts contributed by club families.
With 135 lucky door prize tickets handed out, the night was a fitting celebration of the club’s success both on and off the court.
