Although the senior Yarrawonga Pigeons didn’t come away with the win on Easter Sunday, Andy Jaques’ head shave was a great success with $16,500 raised, the crowd sticking around to watch and a few additional family members also taking the chop.

“Quite a few people stayed around which was great to see,” Andy said.
“My son Archie and nephew Alex Jones who plays for Albury also decided to shave their heads alongside me before Will Haberecht who also plays for Albury, is a family friend and partner of Hannah Symes who plays for Yarrawonga; also decided to shave his head.
“I wanted to do it at the game against Albury for that reason, family.
“We had four buckets on the day with lots of loose change added to them. I have about $500 to add to the total, which ended up being $16,500 (at time of print). I am so humbled by the amount of money that people have donated.”
Unfortunately Andy was unable to donate her long, luscious locks due to the colour and with the weather changing over the weekend she is now sporting a cold head but she said that she is proud to have done something to raise awareness and money for bowel cancer research with a number of people to thank.
Hairdresser Leah Phibbs from Corowa completed Andy Jacques chop with a large crowd watching on.

“Unfortunately I couldn’t donate my hair. They like uncoloured and no grey or complete grey hair, so mine was no good for anything,” Andy said.
“I did wear a beanie all day on Monday, but I was good on Tuesday.
“I’d like to thank Leah Phibbs from Corowa who was our hairdresser. Leah is a family friend who I have known for a very long time.
“Also Phil Conway who was the MC at the end of the day and just made it run so smoothly.
Andy's family is proud of her completing the head shave especially in honour of her sister Gillian.

“Lastly of course, the YFNC who allowed me to have this time at the end of the game to have the big shave.”
