Members Draw starts this week
Tunga members have had a busy week.
On Friday, Sept 26 five players, Troy, Jack and Tom Costigan, David Haebich and Phillip Pettit, travelled to Benalla and competed in their “5 a Side” Tournament.
They had a great day winning three of the six games played. Defeating teams from Benalla, Euroa and Mooroopna, no small feat, as these clubs as you would assume have a much larger experienced player base. Well done fellas.
Three of the women Joy Watt, Kytrina Savige and Kerry Ralph travelled to Cobram to compete in their inaugural “3 Bowl Pairs”.
Not as successful as the men but a great day with a couple of wins, a best game and raffle win the only achievements before returning to the club to catch up with visiting club and relax.
Tungamah were playing host to Numurkah Golf with fourteen players giving up their holiday Friday afternoon. Tungamah Bowls were defeated but not disgraced in this match, which in it’s second year will continue next season.
Played in excellent spirit, a BBQ followed with several compliments made on the BBQ provided. Visitors were informed that Tungamah always support their sponsors, regardless of the cost.
Meat was from Nagles Butchery and the bread from Crusty Loaf, these two sponsors are always utilised for Thursday night meals.
Thanks also to all who represented Tungamah on Friday and to those who helped.
October is Seniors Month. To acknowledge the seniors, Tungamah Bowls Club is having a social afternoon on October 13 at 1pm for those eligible.
Moira Shire is promoting and supporting all activities in senior’s month.
Annual Horse Auction– November 3: Mark this evening in your diary. Always a popular event. Start getting your table organised.
6pm for a 6.30pm start, $15 a head, finger food, nibbles all night, bar at club prices.

Monday, September 22
There were 40 players taking to the green for Social Monday.
Winners were Ken Chamberlain and Shane Maddox -Well done.
Runners up were Steve Docking and Peter Young – good job.
Jackpot was unclaimed. Neil Hamilon won the lucky number.
Sponsors for the day were Biggers Floor World. Thank you.
Wednesday, September 24
18 participants on a cold day. Winners were Ray Butler, John Hyland and Sheryl Chidgey, great job. Gwen Maddox, Pat Taylor and Noel Owen claimed second prize. Jackpot went unclaimed as did the Resting Toucher.

Tuesday, September 23
Yarrawonga played Barooga in a friendly practice match. Barooga took the honours comfortably and the club wish them luck in the coming season.
Thanks to all players, selectors-and Evelyn for organising afternoon tea afterwards along with the usual helpers, always appreciated so much.
Saturday, October 4 inter-club practice match. 12.45 roll up for 1pm start. Uniform required.
Zest Living Lifestyle Village are having their second birthday on the morning of Saturday, October 4.
The club are asking members to come and support an upcoming sponsor by presenting to Zest at 10.15am for a roll up on their modified green and promote the game and the facilities offered by both Zest and Yarrawonga Bowling Club.

Thursday Night Pennant Practice
Please note pennant practice has started Thursday nights from 4pm. The club ask all bowlers to make every endeavour to participate.
Over 60s competition.
The ever popular over 60’s comp is gearing up for another year. First games start Monday, September 29.
If you’re intending to play please put your name down on the sheet in club. Any questions, ask Maurie Lee.
Club Championships
The clubs 21 up and 100 up are well underway. Matches are being played in a timely manner which is much appreciated. Get down and support the bowlers when you can.
Friday night happy hour
The weather is warming up, days are getting longer. Spring has definitely sprung and it’s almost Daylight Savings.
Why not come along and have a coldie and a yarn this week. Remember happy hour is on every Friday 5-6pm with the bar open from 4pm.
Grand final eve was fun
As per the last few years, the club had an extended Happy Hour from 4.30-6.30pm with a footy themed evening.
Members dressed in club colours with a great spread of footy food provided by the club.
A handball competition which Hall of Famer Bert Tait won easily.
The popular Grand Final envelopes went quickly and extremely Tinny Rosene Andrews had four collects over the day.

YMGCR Bowls
Wednesday Social Bowls
Fine weather last Wednesday saw 32 players turn out for social bowls.
The greens were running well, with many close bowls over all rinks.
Winning the day and securing first prize was the team of Bruce Davie and David Monovsk, who shared $100 and a drink card each.
The runners up prize was won by the combination of Karen Bianco and Les Wilson, who shared $60.
The losing rink consolation prize went to the team of Rob Lidgerwood and Les Balfour who shared $40.
The first Lucky Number prize of $15 was won by Norm Windebank, and the second Lucky Number prize of $10 was won by Mick Reilly.
Don’t forget that Wednesday Social bowls will be continuing through the pennant season, with a reminder that social bowls will be switching to Thursdays, commencing on Thursday, October 2.
The format and the great prize money remain the same, so make sure you place your names on the entry sheets at the Bowls Office.
Friday Social Bowls
Last Friday saw the conclusion of another very successful season of Friday Social Bowls.
36 players joined in, and the weather smiled on the last day for this year.
The greens were well presented, and bowlers enjoyed the conditions.
Blazing a trail on rink four and winning first prize were the team of Ian Price and Dave Taylor who took home $110.
Rink 13 was lucky for the combo of Peter McKay and Wayne Barnes who shared the runners up prize of $90.
The losing rink consolation prize of $60 was won by the team of Greg Green and Mick Vaughan.
The first Lucky Number prize of $20 and a drink card, was won by David Irvine.
The second Lucky Number prize of $15 was won by Ray Brown.

Members news
There will be a pennant players meeting, this Friday, October 3, where pennant players can get together and look forward to the upcoming season.
The meeting commences at 3.00pm and will be followed by a BBQ. All pennant players are invited to attend.
The weekend and midweek selectors have convened a meeting for this coming Monday October 6, commencing at 3.00pm.
The meeting will be held in the Willow Room. Selectors from the weekend and mid – week selection panels will be speaking on a variety of topics, including, expectations, performance etc.
