The A1s hosted Wangaratta last Tuesday, and it was a blast of cold wet and windy weather that greeted players.

Winning well and making light of the adverse conditions were Lynne Baxter (L), Ian Febey (2), Greg Green (3), and Anne Miles (S), who won 29 shots to Wangaratta 10 shots. The latest win sees the A1s, in second place on 44 points with an away fixture at Wodonga next game.

Wining in fine style for the A2s were David Irvine (L), Robyn Moore (2), Kerry Kinnane (3), and Allan Goudge (S), who won 25 shots to Wangaratta 17 shots. The A3s entertained Club Mulwala, and it was an all-rink clean sweep for Club Mulwala. The final scores saw YMGCR 56 shots and 0 points to Club Mulwala 110 shots and 18 points.
This was always going to be a tough assignment for the A3s as Club Mulwala have recruited well during the off-season.
Fighting the good fight all game but going down narrowly were Les Wilson (L), Ross Lloyd (2), Victor Brincat (3), and Neil Loveridge (S),who finished the game on 16 shots to Club Mulwala 22 shots. Things get slightly easier for the A3s next week when they host Tungamah at the Golf Club.

Bloke’s Day on Oaks Day
Oaks Day saw the now traditional Bloke’s Day on Oaks Tournament fundraiser for prostate cancer research held at the golf club.
This was probably the best Bloke’s Day Tournament to date, and with fine weather coming to the party, it was a day to remember.
Tournament winners were the team of Andy and James Lefever and Troy Williams. Runners up were the combo of Rob Hummel, Les Wilson and Bruce Davie. Third place was shared by Colin Withers, Greg Green and Ian Brinblecombe.
Great days such as this one don’t happen by accident, and those ensuring that the day was a runaway success were those YMGCR members who gave so selflessly of their time.
Our thanks go to Norm Windebank, Greg Fisher, Chris Morrissy, Liliana Borwick, Shirley Hummel, Barb Tennyson and Kerry Kinnane.
Our sponsors, whose contributions to prize money and raffle prizes also deserve our heartfelt thanks. Mid-Week Pennant
Wed 12th November
Finally, our first win for the season and what a good win it was! The A1’hosted Wodonga and had a very convincing win 68-50, and best of all, getting all three rinks up.
Well done A1’S good reward for your persistence. The rink of M Dixon, R King, R Butler and skipped by A Dodman were the best-performing rink winning 23-13 excellent effort.
The B1’s were unlucky to lose against St James at home ..drawing 2/3 rinks but ultimately going down 44-58. Still a great effort by the team.
Sat 15th November
Saturdays see us still winless, but we are definitely getting closer. We always knew it would be a tough year on the green but hang in there as the camaraderie and team spirit around the club is exceptional, and the wins will come!
A’1s hosted Wodonga at home, who avenged their mid-week loss to the baggers. Yarrawonga 58 Wodonga 88. Doddy’s rink did well to procure a one-shot win.
A4’s did the long trek to Dederang, and I'm sure it was a long trip home after being defeated 74-92. On the positive, Noel Owen’s rink had a good win, going up four shots 24-20. Well done, you lot.
B1’s issued a forfeit due to a lack of numbers.
Let’s keep our heads up and stay positive, everyone.
Please note that the pennant practice has started on Thursday nights from 4pm. We ask all bowlers to make every effort to participate.

B2s break the drought
On Saturday, the B2s have broken through for their first win of the season, beating Wangaratta away by five shots.
Led by skip Reg Atkinson, Greg Bennett, Darren Liversidge and lead Col Mathieson, they had a great win by 17 shots to lead the team home for a well-deserved win. Well done all.
The B1s had the weekend off via a forfeit, as unfortunately, Yarrawonga could not field a team.
The A3s made the short trip across the railway tracks for a local derby against Border Golf. The day went well for Club Mulwala, winning all four rinks with a 50-plus margin overall. The best rink of the day was Jimmy Lefevrre's rink with the old guys up front leading the way for the young skip with a +22 result.
Tuesday's pennant resulted in two narrow losses and a good win for the A2s.
The A3s played Benalla at home and despite winning two rinks, went down by six overall. Daryl Richmond's rink was the best performer with a margin of +11. The B2s had the short drive to Tungamah and despite only winning the one rink lost by the narrowest of margins of one overall.
Wayne Knowles' rink was the standout with a winning margin of +7. The A2s made the early start to a cold Dederang but warmed to their task from the get-go to win all three rinks with a margin of 60 plus.
Best performing rink on the day was Les Spencer's, well led by Sue Middleton with a margin of +29.
On the club scene, the Singles Championships are continuing, so please organise your matches to keep the rounds going.

Pennant
Midweek
At home to Club Mulwala, and how great to get up by just one shot. 54 to 53, one Rink down by seven, but the other two Rinks covered, which was excellent. So, off the bottom.
At home to Wangaratta next. Green is running well, thanks to Grahame and Dick for preparing it for our members.
A3’s
At home to Benalla, who were too good on the day, defeating Tungamah 89 to 65 shots. Tunga had one winning rink, so two points were received. Unfortunately for us, we are again on the ladder bottom and head to Border \Golf on Saturday.
B1’s
Travelled to Border Golf and went down by just 6 shots, 58 to 52. Jeff Armstrong, Jack Driden, Bluey Watt and Robert Sidebottom had a 28 to 12 victory, so they got us two points.
One rink had a bad loss, so the good score didn’t help. Green ran terrific, and Tungamah appreciated the Bikkies and cheese after, thank you. At home to Yarrawonga on Saturday.
