Tungamah hosted Jerilderie on Saturday looking to get back on the winners list after the loss to Strathmerton last week.
After some overnight rain the weather cleared by the time the game started and conditions were close to ideal.
Both sides got off to a quick start with fast ball movement the preferred method it made for an entertaining match. Bears led by 3 goals at the first break 7 goals to 4.
The scoring slowed down in the middle 2 terms as the game became a little more contested.
Both teams could score when they got the ball into the 50-metre arc, however it was difficult to move the ball through the middle of the ground as the pressure was high.
Tungamah were able to maintain their lead of around 5 goals with the 2 sides trading goals throughout terms 2 and 3.
Jerilderie kept hanging in there and were disciplined certainly making the Bears work hard for the win. Tungamah were able to extend their lead in the last quarter and ended up comfortable 43-point victors. Brad Wilson was a standout through the middle of the ground with his contested ball winning a highlight, he also makes good decisions with ball in hand to find his teammates.
Ash Saunders was again the dominant forward of the ground kicking 7 majors and was a constant threat when Tungamah entered the forward 50.
Liam Williams was a beneficiary of Ash’s hard work bringing the ball to ground and finished the game with 2 goals of his own, setting up a number of others.
Jye Holcombe was again solid across half back and continued his fine start to the season against his old club.
Cam Carling and Will Sharp rounded out the best players with both of them finding plenty of the ball and using it effectively.
Overall, it was a solid performance from the home side, and Tungamah now have a week off to freshen up before tackling Berrigan at home in a fortnight.

Reserves
Tungamah 14.9.93 defeated Jerilderie 2.2.14.
Round 6 saw the Bears play host to J-town. The highly anticipated game created an AFL gather round style sell out.
The high demand for tickets caused yet another collapse of the Ticketek website leaving fans fuming. Jerilderie brought out the big guns with the return of H Curtin. Saunders got given the run with role, with the contest reminiscent of a Lonergan/Franklin battle.
Both teams were quick to point the finger at the opposition for the poor standard of football with the game providing the quality viewing of a kindergarten concert.
Beats was instrumental in the win, not so much for his football but for getting the big man Cohen back. Pretty sure the scribe saw this bloke turn the water bottle into a vintage Shiraz.
Not saying he’s god, but no one has seen them in the same room.
Some big moves for the week with King Charles moving to the throne and Baker moving to the midfield. The scribe’s money is on Baker to last longer in the new position. Fitness or more accurately lack thereof, was prominent running or walking into the last, as the midfield started to run out of legs.
Rangi was his standard exceptional self although the scribe feels he may have still had the backpacker’s bag on, but that’s none of their business.
T was similar. The bloke can find space in a telephone booth. Patches treated himself to the last quarter off as the knees struggle to handle the new payload his carrying.
The thirds boys clocked up some OT providing the only run in the last essentially winning Tungamah a second game in as many weeks.
The velvet sledgehammer Prescott was back to his best working harder than Jye trying to keep his dinner down after the function.
Bourke from wish had the honour of being presented with the prestigious mug award by the honourable mug man Lidge; not sure how you win this award with a pair of boots that are that clean this far into the season. Pity we can’t say the same for his public perception after.
Goals: J. Henderson 6, T. Jones 2, J. Costigan 2, T. Hayes 2, J. Walker 1, L. Eales 1.
Best: T. Hayes, T. Jones, J. Henderson, W. Prescott, B. Beaton, C. McElroy.

Fourths
Tungamah 7.9.51 defeated Jerilderie 2.2.14.
With a nice sleep in, the 4ths game started at 11am on a damp deck against undefeated Jerilderie.
The Bears came out firing and snagged the first couple of goals to get the game rolling.
The Tungamah backline was put through their paces, stood tall and showed what they were capable of. Great to see some good passages of play from the back to the forward with the Bears starting to really gel as a team.
It was a great closely contested match all game and the Bears were happy to bring home the win.
