Tungamah hosted Mathoura on Saturday looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
In what could only be described as perfect conditions for footy, both sides started well and the Timber Cutters certainly came to play.
They kicked 2 goals for the first quarter and their pressure was causing the Bears to make some sloppy errors.
Tungamah had enough of the play to take a 7-point lead into the first change. The second term saw a total switch in momentum as the home side kicked up a couple of gears.
They were able to bang on 10 goals to 1 for the quarter, with Tom Lidgerwood and coach Johns both prominent.
A 10-goal lead at the main break probably ensured Tungamah were going to get the win, it was just a matter of by how much.
Mathoura kept fighting the entire day however Tungamah’s class came to the fore, and they were able to kick another 12 majors after half time to Mathoura’s 3 to come away with a solid 121-point victory. Tom Lidgerwood had a breakout senior performance kicking 7 majors and having a hand in plenty of other goals to be the best player on the ground.
Sean Johns and Brad Wilson led a dominant midfield, with Johns kicking 4 majors himself.
The skipper Angus Ford enjoyed his shift forward and picked up 4 goals with his work rate a highlight. Wally Thomson continued his fine form in defence, where he and Dylan Scott were both able to rebound the ball into attack on multiple occasions to be fine contributors to the team.
All in all, the coaches were happy with the game and now look forward to travelling to Strathmerton next week in what should be a great clash.
Awards: Mul Bakery - Wally Thomson, One Zach - Jye Holcombe and Tungamah Hotel - Angus Ford.
Yarrawonga Toyota Player of the Year: 3 T Lidgerwood, 2 S Johns, 1 D Scott.

Round 4 and the label maker was running hot as the club saw plenty of changes again. The most notable inclusion was that of Brit as team manager.
Tungamah handed her a mess of unprocessed paperwork and were able to focus on more important things, like naming a vice captain.
Honours went to Banger Thomson and Henderson both proving they are natural born leaders, footballers, and drinkers over the course of the day.
Christian Hore rocked up with more excuses than a pregnant Nun for his role in the ruck, luckily, they were unneeded as he gave the onballers first use.
It was great to welcome Matt Irvine back who pulled out all the tricks.
Patches was good, wouldn’t say great, but definitely good, sort of like when your parents promise you KFC for tea but then pull into Red Rooster.
Chris “Phat” Johnson made his return to the lunch time legends and was sent straight to full back.
Hendo still weary of his failed celebration the week before, let his kicking do the talking slotting 11 majors. Turns out no amount of physio is as good for curing a bad back as the thoughts of kicking a bag. The only thing hotter than Jake’s boot was Phats head as the mercury tipped 24.
The unconditioned reserves were sweating like a Frankston kid at a spelling bee and the sting went out of the game as players would have struggled to run through the streamers at the local fish and chip shop.
Young Walks, in for his first game, was as nimble as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, crumbing the few Jake let through the fingers and adding a couple of snags to the scoreboard.
Goals: J. Henderson 11, T. Irvine 4, J. Walker 3, M. Irvine 2, M. Bourke 2, H. Thomson, T. Hayes.
Best: J. Henderson, J. Kelly, M. Bourke, T. Hayes, J. Walker, C. Johnstone.
Awards: Mulwala Water Ski Club – Jake Henderson, One Zach – Jezza Kelly, Lake Mulwala Bakery – Matt Bourke and Ricky D’s – Matt Irvine.

Tungamah came out strong from the first siren, having a commanding lead by quarter time.
Second quarter the Bears sent prime movers to play for Mathoura to create a full field contest, allowing everyone to get involved in the game.
Third quarter continued as an even contest with the Bears edging ahead slightly.
Returning to normal play for the last quarter where the boys brought it home strong.
Was great to see all kids getting involved in the play using their teammates this week, resulting in multiple goal scorers.
