The Bears were back on the winners board after a much needed and well-earned victory in round six following a strong team performance against Rennie on home soil.
The energy was high as the club celebrated its well-renowned Ladies Day.
This year Tungamah proudly joined forces with Rennie to co-host White Ribbon Round to raise awareness and stand together to help end domestic violence.
On the field, Tungamah put on a clinic.
The forward line was firing from the first bounce, spearheaded by a blistering performance from Ned McKeown.
He slotted 14 goals in a best on ground effort, that had the crowd roaring.
The return of some key names from the injury list added to the firepower.
Lach Thompson kicked five goals, and co-coaches Sam Ferguson and Sean Johns both contributed with two goals each.
Chris Powell also made his mark with five majors, whilst others hit the scoreboard to round out a complete team performance.
J. Reilly worked tirelessly in the ruck, and gave the midfield first use of the football.
The midfield was fantastic in providing the forwards with service.
D. Haebich and F. Fletcher were fierce at ground level in the rover positions.
They brought energy and drive around stoppages and played key link roles through the midfield.
The duo were constant in pushing the ball forward and applying pressure to the opposition.
O. Willis provided plenty of run off the back flank with his pace and interpretation of the play, repelling Rennie’ s forward entries all day.
A very questionable deal with coaches to get this over the line on Ladies Day as A. Ford was moved into the forward line for the big day.
A strong win, a great cause, and a top atmosphere.
It doesn’t get much better than that at the Bear pit.
Reserves
Tungamah 10.15.75 def Rennie 6.3.39
Never mind the premiership, games don’t get much bigger than this week for the lunch time legends, playing the cross-town rivals Rennie on Ladies Day.
This led to a few more blokes finding the time to down tools or park up the tractors.
Many pre-game discussions revolved around players rotating between the forward and back flank each quarter, to increase their field time in-front of the marquee.
Whilst no agreements were reached, it was nice to know the forwards now understand there is another half of the ground.
Coach Patches rocked up with the gun loaded and no one was safe from the truth bullets being discharged.
He provided great detail on what would be required to get the win.
Ladies day specialist Velvet Prescott was back in for his first game of the year with his trademark crumbing around the packs on display.
There is no question regarding his fitness as witnesses stated he was still working around the packs late into the evening in the clubhouse.
The integrity unit will look into allegations of match fixing by the Tunga trainers claiming the ‘grippo’ has been replaced with ‘slippo’ as falcons are still one of the highest stats on the sheet.
The ‘Cinderella man’ Josh Jones just keeps getting better, really perfecting his game style with his “Ressie’s handshake” tackles and ferret decision making.
V-Line scouts have been spotted at the last few games watching Brett Smith.
He seems to have caught their eye for his amazing ability to reliably carry several passengers.
The Reserves had some wildly inaccurate attempts on goal, which kept the scoreline more respectable for Rennie.
Not a bad outcome in the end, with the win putting the Ressies back in the top four.
Goals: O. Connell 2, P. Haebich 2, W. Prescott, L. Vearing, M. O'Kane, D. Payne, J. Jones, M. Bramich.

Fourths
Tungamah 7.12.54 def Rennie 6.2.38
The young Bears enjoyed a well-deserved sleep-in with a later start for the day, knowing they needed to put their best foot forward for the game against Rennie.
The first quarter turned out to be an arm wrestle, with Rennie applying great pressure while the fourths struggled to move the ball cleanly.
Rythym stepped up in the second quarter, and the team began to work together more effectively.
After applying pressure and winning the ball more frequently, the fourths maintained good football and came away with the win.
It was fantastic to come away with the four points, but it was equally valuable for the fourths to have a good tussle and put their skills to the test.
These experiences will only help them grow as players and as a team.
Goals: P. Poll, J. Haebich, T. Dickins, M. Pecke, C. Jarjoura, T. Lawrence.

The young Cubs couldn’t have asked for a better morning for footy.
With the sun out so were the guns as both sides faced off in a spirited tussle.
It was heart-warming to see so much teamwork and encouragement among the fifths, as they showcased great camaraderie.
The skills that where developed on the field were impressive, and it's clear that the future is bright for the young athletes.
