On the Par 3, 18th hole, playing 144 metres, his 7-iron landed just left of the flag, bounced twice, and rolled straight into the hole.
“I’d like to say it was skill, but it was just good luck,” said the 48-year-old retired businessman. “It was disbelief.”
Brad played alongside Terry Davidson, Andrew Coburn, and young gun Taj Smith, scoring an impressive 35 Stableford points himself. Despite playing together for years, none of his companions have aced a hole.
Brad, ever humble, says he feels far below his friends in talent.
“I play with the same group of people for years now, and my mates are taking it pretty hard. Their wives are asking them, ‘Why don’t you have a hole-in-one? Why can’t you be more like Brad?’” he laughed.
With a handicap of nine, Brad clearly has talent, but the joy of his first ace left him practically in love with the 18th green—a moment captured perfectly in a photo.
James Gordon’s gap wedge tee shot on the fourth hole spun back and into the hole.
The excitement didn’t stop there. Professional James Gordon also aced a hole during the same round—his fifth career hole-in-one—on the fourth hole, playing 115 metres.
His gap wedge tee shot landed on the tier near the front of the green, spun back, and dropped into the cup.
“I nearly pulled a hammy running up to the hole in excitement!” said the tall left-hander, off +7.
This marked James’ second ace on the fourth hole and his third at Corowa, including a previous one on the 18th.
