Marg Conomy has collected the first individual “Best Of Three” event, on her first attempt since she joined the club alongside husband Rick in 2023.
Marg had not contested a best of three frame format singles competition until the recently completed 2025 Captain’s Cup.
She has now guaranteed bragging rights for the Conomy family, after claiming the title.
The first rounds of matches saw Marg fighting back from a first frame loss against Deb Harbrow to tough out a 2/1 victory, which she then followed up with a comfortable straight sets victory over Nev Page.
Jason Bassett then stood between Marg and her first club final title but Marg continued her great form to earn the right to face reigning Player of the Year, Darren Edwards, in the final.
Marg put on another very strong performance to claim victory with another straight frames winning result, meaning she claims the title with the loss of only one frame. Congratulations Marg may there be many more to come, and congratulations also to Darren on his super consistent form.
Monday July 2 was Club Challenge night and a relatively new member in Brandon Lucas, claimed his first victory in this regular event when he defeated Kevin Young in a very tight contest.
For his efforts, Brandon collected two Club Mulwala vouchers whilst Kevin also took home one of the club prizes, congratulations to you both gentlemen.
Social Evenings
Social evenings were conducted on Wednesday July 2 when Michael Barclay returned to his normal mid-week form to edge out Darren Edwards.
On Wednesday July 9, Ashley Nicholls after a lengthy break, claimed a victory over Darren Edwards.
Darren will no doubt take consolation for his three runners up finishes in four events, from the knowledge that he is accumulating Player of the Year points at a rapid rate.
