When combined with the recently re-covered tables the standard of the playing facilities would be the envy of many other clubs.
On behalf of all club members the CMSC sincerely thank ClubMulwala for continuing to support the club and sport. CMSC consider themselves very fortunate indeed to have access to two high-quality full-size tables within their own dedicated environment.
Anzac Day saw the contesting of one of premier events, being the Anzac Tribute.
Played in honour of the contributions made by many people, all members are very keen to have their name engraved on this perpetual trophy.
Darren Edwards prevailed over a very strong field when he defeated Heie Hansen in this year’s final after both players clawed their way through multiple qualifying rounds. Congratulations to Darren on his win and to Heie on his continuing stellar form as one of the top players in the club.
Monday, May 2 was Club Challenge number 3, where points gained by placegetters in monthly competitions contribute to a year end tournament to decide the annual winner.
Heie Hansen continued his impressive run by taking out this month’s event over Deb Harbrow in an evening where participant numbers were high and competition was willing.
The social evening on April 27 was taken out by first time winner Marg Conomy, who recently joined the club with husband Rick. Marg took out Adrien Ridley in the final and now has bragging rights in the Conomy household until Rick can respond with a win of his own.
Numbers were so high on May 4 that a doubles event was played, which is normally the domain of club events such as the Autumn Pairs and Club Championships. Deb Harbrow and Nev Page took out the competition with a black ball win over Heie Hansen and Dave Arzuhaldzic, in a very entertaining evening for all participants.
Great to see Gus McMillan back gracing the tables. Gus has played off in a couple of club championship finals and has found a bit of spare time to join in the Wednesday night social events recently.
The Autumn Pairs competition will continue through May with the final scheduled for the end of the month. Plenty of close matches to date with no clear favourites yet being installed.
As people can see on the ClubMulwala website and in its members newsletter, CMSC welcome new members or anyone who may like to give snooker a try. ClubMulwala sponsors the snooker club very generously so the value for money ratio for players is very high indeed.
There are a variety of events held every Monday and Wednesday evening and there are plenty of opportunities for new players to join or come along to try the facilities out.
CMSC have 2 excellently maintained full size tables, which have recently been re-surfaced, that are available for competition, practice and visitor use, and a regularly updated handicapping system to ensure players from beginners to advanced level can compete equally.
There are also plenty of experienced and skilled players who can help with advice and tips on how to improve your game or perhaps adapt it for those who have played pub or social pool in the past.
Please contact the club on either 0497 062443 or 0418 361779 or visit on a Monday or Wednesday evening by 7PM if you would like to give snooker a try.
