Fanny Lumsden coming to Wilby

Fanny Lumsden and The Prawn Stars will be performing at the Wilby Hall on Friday, February 16 as part of their 10th anniversary Country Halls Tour.

With its humble beginnings in three halls in the Riverina in 2012 raising money for BlazeAid, the Country Halls Tour has gone from strength to strength.

Fanny and her small team have put on full band, full production, original live music in more than 200 halls all over Australia, raising funds for communities, and ‘raising the roofs’ of halls with their all-in-community-nights-out.

Fanny Lumsden is an Australian country music singer and songwriter and a 2 x ARIA and 8 x Golden Guitar winning artist.

Fanny’s shows are hilarious, inclusive, adventurous and perfect for the whole family.

Fanny’s team aim to ensure small local halls are continuing to be well used and a great gathering place for small communities.

Doors open at 6.30pm, concert starts at 7pm and a BBQ dinner will be available at 6pm with soft drinks.

Proceeds will go to support the Wilby Hall. BYO drinks.

There will also be a raffle with great prizes.

There are also a limited number of VIP tickets for a pre-show meet and greet and acoustic performance at 6pm. Tickets are limited so book early!

It is expected this show will sell out so book online through Fanny Lumsden’s Country Halls Tour/Wilby?Humantix. Or call 0407521278.

Yarrawonga Lions celebrate and acknowledge

Phil Oliver being presented his 40-year Chevron from District Governor John Houghton.

Yarrawonga Lions recently hosted their annual District Governor visit where they celebrated, acknowledged, and awarded members for their years of service and contribution to Lions and the Community.

The club has a long history with involvement within the community and it is due to members that manage to do this.

The longest serving active member, Phil Oliver, was presented with his 40-year chevron.

Phil was sponsored by Phil Banch and during his time has held many positions with the club including President, Secretary and Treasurer. Thanks for your many years of service to Yarrawonga and the community.

Members would like to acknowledge Bill Monahan for his service being a member of the club for 57 years. Unfortunately, Bill was not able to attend this year, but the club is sure he would have been there in spirit.

Chris August award recipient’s Peter Ornsby, Laurie Reynen and Russell Cook with President Jock McDonald and John Houghton.

Three “Chris August” awards were also presented by District Governor John Houghton. This award is given to members for their outstanding contribution and support to the Lions Club of Yarrawonga.

This award was awarded to Lions Laurie Reynen, Russell Cook and Peter Ornsby.

Congratulations and thank you.

Years of Service recipients Debbie Van Corler, John Weinert and Ron Stone.

Years of Service “Chevrons” were also presented to Lions Debbie Van Corler for 25 years, John Weinert for 20 years and Ron Stone for 10 years.

These are years that are served in the Lions community, but these members are also involved in other community volunteering organisations.

Well done and congratulations.
