Croquet has been described as a cutthroat game played by nice people with a smile. Yes, it relies heavily on ruthless psychological tactics, subtle deception and strategic gameplay hidden beneath a polite exterior.
The YMGCR Croquet Club showed its true “nice” side recently by holding an inter-club social day to raise money for the local Neighbour House shower program.

Kellie Robillard, Community Support Officer for the Community Shower and Laundry Program, watched from the sidelines.
Kellie said the money donated would assist community members in need by providing access to showers in a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
A very nice day, with nice weather and nice competitive play, was enjoyed by players from 10 clubs and some local members.
To add to the niceness of the day, many raffle prizes were donated by local businesses, ensuring even the losers of the competition had a nice day.
That’s probably enough nice words.
The winner of the day’s competition was Judy Amery from Twin City Croquet Club.
The YMGCR Croquet Club would like to thank local businesses and members for their generous support in the form of raffle donations.
Special thanks also go to YMGCR and its groundsmen. The courts were running well.
Like any club, the success of the day was due to the combined efforts of club members who prepared food and organised the day’s play.
