Mooroopna awaits the Murray Bombers in a preliminary final at Deakin Reserve, with Euroa awaiting the winner.
The Magpies were too strong for Echuca in last week’s qualifying final, prevailing 60-45 as goal shooter Bec Colwell dominated with 54 goals.
“That was a really tough job for us on the weekend, we really just struggled with her height and the ball coming in,” coach Bronwyn Slater said.
“We know that every time we come up against them that that's tough gig.
“Their transition down court though also was really good, they were very well drilled on what they needed to do to transition that ball down court very smoothly, and probably we were caught on the back foot with that as well.”
Echuca and Mooroopna played in the final regular season game of the year and nothing could split the sides as it finished 37-all.
“We've certainly made a few tweaks in our defensive structures that we feel could be beneficial to us,” Slater said.
“We spent Tuesday just walking through what some of those might look like.”
The Murray Bombers will be without former coach and goaler Belinda Lees after she suffered a break to her hand in the semi-final with Euroa.
It means Rose Byrne will step into the goaling role full time, after rotating with Lees and Sheridan Townrow throughout the year.
“There's some real excitement about that because she has kind of been the bridesmaid to Belinda a little bit, and we've been weaning her into that,” Slater said.
“All of a sudden we've got this beautiful youth in Rose and Kate (Head) and there's some real excitement around the club about that just being something different for us as well something that people don't know as much about.”
The Murray Bombers missed out on the post-season altogether last year, but came back with a vengeance in 2026.
Echuca went 15-1-2 in the regular season, finishing third behind Euroa and Mooroopna.
Elsewhere in the set-up, the 17-and-under and 15-and-under sides have already made it through to grand final day.
The club could have six teams in deciders, with all three of its football grades also involved.
The A-grade preliminary final will be held at 2.15pm at Deakin Reserve on Sunday.
