Special activities were hosted by St Michael’s Primary School, Deni North School, Deni South School and Edward Public School.
Students and staff wore their team colours, and there were some footy-themes activities.
St Michael’s upped the ante a little, hosting an extra special footy clinic at the Hardinge St Oval.
The school has arranged for guest appearances from VFL players Will Shaw and Matt Belbasis.
Students took part in drills and games, soaking up the excitement and energy of the sport.
Belbasis praised the event, saying “I love it, it’s a great day”.
“Everybody’s giving it a good crack. Their love for the game helps the participation, it’s great,” he continued.
With the AFL grand final showdown between the Geelong Cats and Brisbane Lions, their fans were possibly most excited at each of the school events.
Though Lions supporters were fewer in number, they wore their colours with just as much pride, adding to the festive atmosphere.
