The 30-year-old midfielder is excited about his appointment. “A little bit daunting but more excited,” Fountain told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
The dual premiership captain and one-time club best and fairest player is a near 200 game senior player.
For the past three seasons, he has coached the club’s Under 17 team and has outstanding leadership potential for the senior job at Rennie.
Fountain has been looking at player retention and recruitment over the last couple of weeks and brings with him a large amount of enthusiasm and knowledge to the position.
“We look like losing ruckman Cam Sudholz who could be heading up north, but we certainly hope to keep the rest of our players,” he said.
Fountain takes over from Harry Haley whom the club hopes to retain as a player.
Rennie’s new senior coach is regarded by club officials as not only a super footballer but a champion person and, along with fiancé Georgia, is wished all the best for season 24.
Rennie Football Netball Club will hold its Annual General Meeting this Friday, November 10, at the Rennie Clubrooms, with the netball commencing at 6pm with football to follow at 7pm. All positions are vacant.
On the football side, President Matt Stephens and Cyndi Gleeson have announced they are stepping down from their respective positions.
