After months of preparation, training and conditioning over the summer months, Mooroopna's long pre-season has finally come to a close.

The Cats took to the field for their final practice match last weekend, taking on Ovens and Murray League side Myrtleford at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

It was a strong showing from the Cats, who earned a 37-point victory 14.6 (90) to 7.11 (53).

Mooroopna has shown steady improvement throughout the pre-season, with other trial hit-outs against Yarraville and North Albury.

Now though, the next time the Cats run on to the field, there will be premiership points on the line.

Having made the finals last season, Mooroopna will be hoping to get off to a strong start against another top-six aspirant in Shepparton Swans.

The two sides will meet under lights in round one on Saturday, April 8 at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve, with first bounce at 6pm.
