YMGCR Mens 9 Holers
Considering the damp weather, Tuesday saw a reasonable 58 player turnout competing for the Pot Round.
On the Blue it was Yarra’s very own jeweller Dominic Fotia who gold plated his round with a few diamonds finishing with a glittering 30 strokes to win one stroke ahead of Normie Moule, who showed his past plumbing skills by negotiating the many water hazards on the wet executive. Following close behind them was Denis Beal on 32 and Ted Latta on 34 with ball prizes going down
to 36.
On a very damp Red Lakes course, scoring was harder with Brendan O’Farrell continuing his winning form with 36 strokes, one ahead of an unlucky Charlie Hope with Dave Hall, Terry Strickland and Peter Taylor close behind on 38 strokes.
Thursday saw some great golfing despite a very soggy and damp course with John Gonera winning the A grade on the Blue with a fine 22 points winning on countback from an unfortunate Kerry Pendergast who dropped a shot when he hit his drive into an owl’s nest and took a penalty drop. While the B grade was won by Dave Holdsworth with 21 points followed by Vic ‘The Cat’ Brincat on 20.
With Lieut Dan locking Victoria down again it looks like the nine holers are playing the digital Covid Cup again this week.
