It was great to see a big turnout as the 9 holer’s returned to action after several weeks off, welcoming back Captain Terry Duffy who assisted at the desk hoping to resume playing again soon. On the Blue Graeme Milner blitzed the course with a fantastic 22 points, followed by Warwick “Salty” Sellars who beat Rick Evans on a countback on 20 points.
Behind them was a conga line of golfers with Laurie Winkworth, Jim Old, Joe Scibberas, Des Baker and Bomber Mitchell (who was celebrating his 80th birthday) on 19 points.
On the Red things were much harder with Graeme Duffy taking the honors on 19 points followed by John Groves, Vic “the Cat” Brincat and John Gonera on 17 points.
In perfect playing conditions on Thursday 70 players participated in the favourite game of PAR and it was Tony Shead who will incur the wrath of the handicapper with his +5 score on the Blue, followed closely by Bill Lowrie on +4 and Rod Sissons, John Groves, Digger Dunne and Dave “Hitman” Dorgan on +3.
On the Red it was Ted Latta who won the day coming in square, one ahead of Laurie Winkworth and Gavin Borwick on -1 with Billy “the Kid” Hidson, Geoff Burgess Les Garbutt Dave Holdsworth and Graeme Milner on -2.
It was good to be back playing again and will keep us all mentally happy and healthy.
