The two’s had finished 8th and travelled to Jerilderie to take on Katandra. From the start the Kats were bigger, harder at the ball and able to move the ball across half back and set up chains of play which allowed their big forwards to mark strongly and convert.
Four goals down which stretched to 7 at half time as the trend of the game continued in term 2.
Dykes was using his guile and skill, Nish was leading from the front but the Hoppers were second to the ball and could not get through half forward.
The game had blown out to 79 points before Elliott who was providing a target up forward registered Rennie’s first major on the ¾ time siren.
Coach Nish implored his guys to grab some respect late and the Hoppers did this kicking 3 unanswered goals in the final term to go down by 54 points.
Best were Dykes, Jansen, Nish, Oughton and James.
In a season where the two’s had no consistency of numbers they ended up doing ok making finals.
After the game it was announced that Adam Nish had been reappointed coach for season 2023.

The under 17s played on Sunday against Deni Rovers at Berrigan. The Hoppers were strong early with pressure from McInness and Tanner setting the standard.
With Lovel super on his wing, de’Oleveira was able to present forward and kick 2 goals. This allowed Rennie to hold a 14 point lead.
Term 2 was more of the same as Bassett was impassable at half back and Kennedy powering in the guts which created forward opportunities for Hogan and Brogan to hit the scoreboard.
Rennie had stretched the lead to 29 at the long break. Deni snagged their first goal early in term 3 but that signalled the Hoppers to kick into overdrive as de’Oleveira with 2, Bassett and Kennedy goaled.
At the same time Tanner was winning most contests at half back and Cope was lively on ball. Rennie by 39 at the final break.
Rennie were able to end up 55 points victors as Cam Stephens kicked a great roving goal, de’Oleveira kicked 2 more to end the game with 6 and Brad Burrows also goaled.
A very even performance by the Hoppers who will now play on Sunday, August 28 with their opponent to be decided next week.
