The Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort is very proud to be hosting the Joy Johnson Memorial Triples for the fifth time, this Saturday and Sunday, September 2 and 3.
It is a Bowls Australia ranking 3 event which attracts women from all over the state. They will be competing for the $10,000.00 prize money over two days.
The tournament is named after YMGCR’s champion Joy. She was a champion on and off the green, having won 10 club championships and many pairs, triples and fours.
At O&M regional level she won many events and went on to represent at state level. In 2016 Joy competed in all events available at state finals - a feat never before achieved by any other player to date.
“Joy will be remembered for a very long time, not only for her bowling achievements but for her straight forward attitude to life,” tournament director and star bowler Anne Miles told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“Her dream was to see more high profile tournaments run for women in lawn bowls. It is an honour to run this event to pursue her dreams.”
The major sponsor this year is again Lekeal builders, along with Milestone Chemicals and Cropsmart.
