St Patricks 1.2.8 def by Yarrawonga 8.15.63.
It was a beautiful day for football and the Yarrawonga boys travelled to Albury to take on St Pats at their home track.
After substantial rain in the area over the previous week the ground was heavy and proved to be greasy in the early morning.
The Pigeons adapted well to the conditions and took an early lead in the match against a willing St Pats outfit.
Once again the team mentality was evident with plenty of unselfish acts that showcased the ever improving ball use and gives the ball carrier confidence to take an extra step and use the ball to the best advantage.
The first use from Byron Dodd and Sam Cummins was outstanding throughout the match and signs of some really polished delivery to a player in position makes you think these kids are playing a style well above their age.
Harry Wren and Mac Hargreaves again won the ball all over the ground and provided plenty of punch into the forward line to give the boys up forward every scoring opportunity available.
The excitement was palpable when Darcy Fasoli came close to kicking his first goal for the Pigeons. Unfortunately that wasn’t to be for Darcy but when the ball went forward and Darby Bigger roved the pack to a clean attack the bench erupted to see him get his first goal in the hoops. Well done mate.
The boys are playing a really disciplined game and it shows particularly when they hold position especially across half back. This week it was Jackson Smith who had a purple patch just mopping up and sending the ball forward to the Pigeons advantage.
Tom Conway’s confidence is growing and attacked the ball when the chances came and was strong in the contest.
Writing these reports is not easy when you have so many kids improving in their own game every week. It’s a joy to watch. Keep it boys.
Goals: Ned Saunders 2, Aiden Lawless 2, and 1 each to Byron Dodd, Sam Cummins, Darby Bigger, and Harry Ramsdale.
Best: Harry Wren, Byron Dodd, Sam Cummins, Tom Conway, Jackson Smith.

With the ground soft but sunny skies, conditions were good.
With a handful of boys out due to illness, Connor McCarty and Ollie Tresize stepped up from the Under 14s to help out with their second game for the day.
Ryan Cameron and Lucas Eales rebounded well from defence with long kicks.
“Mr Fixit” Jordan Ibbott started in the ruck this week, giving first use and taking plenty of marks, including a tricky chest mark while lying on his back.
Ryder Stevens had come to play again, continually driving the ball forward.
Zac Forge was at his swerving best, dodging and weaving. Connor McCarty and Jobe Fraser provided strong targets up forward.
Just before the long break, Wil “Nugget” Thomson had the crowd on their feet with a snap at goal off the ground just missing.
After halftime, goal sneak Lucas Tonna wobbled one through from the boundary before following up with another less than a minute later.
Braeden Bramich gave away a 50m penalty but quickly made up for it with the first of two goals from him. This gave a strong lead at the last break.
In the last quarter, the St Pats boys rallied to narrow the lead.
The Pigeons boys found a way to hold on for a well-deserved win while undermanned. Bring on Corowa next week!
