The Deniliquin Golf Club junior program is going from strength to strength.

Junior clinics have been held over the school holidays and an increasing number of local youngsters are getting the golfing ‘bug’ and learning our great game.
They are also having lots of success, both locally and further afield.
This continued on Sunday when Jack McGrillen won the Rich River Open C-grade net and junior net prizes.
Playing in his first open event, Jack returned a brilliant score of 89-21-68 in challenging windy conditions and following overnight rain.
Not only did Jack dominate the scoreboard, but he also won the praise of his playing partners - all Rich River members - for his attitude on the course.
Jaxon O'Donnell also brought home a prize, winning the nearest the pin juniors on the 8th.
The boys were part of a contingent of five Deniliquin juniors to participate at Rich River.
The club appreciates the support of adult members who supported the juniors on their first foray into Open golf events.
The next Open on the calendar is the Western Riverina District Golf Association Championships at Barham on Sunday, July 26.
On our local course, last Thursday was a 2-person ambrose off the gold tees. Winners were Kris and Jacqui Priest with 54.75 from runners-up Lucy Horne and Lyn O’Brien 63.75.
In Saturday’s stableford event the A-grade winner was Noel Swainger with 37 points from runner-up Jarod Sommerfeld 36; B-grade Nick Metcalfe 40 from runner-up Peter Seely 39, and C-grade Annette Danckert 39 on countback to Rob Campbell.
The Golf NSW mixed 2-person 9 hole ambrose was played on Sunday. Winners were Peter Thompson and Pat Fogarty 27.25, from runners-up Lucy and Matt Horne 30.25.
On Wednesday, in sunny but cool conditions, there was a good field of more than 60 players with three grades. A-grade winner was Jackson Campbell with 41 points from runner-up Jaxon O’Donnell on 36, B-grade winner Jack McGrillen 35 from runner-up Graeme Rothwell 32, and C-grade winner Ari Strongman 38 from runner-up Graham Flanagan 34.
Coming up, tomorrow we have versus par, Tuesday is 9 holes versus par, Wednesday is stableford, Thursday is stableford and next Saturday is fourball best ball aggregate.
In the clubhouse, the Flagstick Bistro continues to provide excellent meals at a reasonable price. Winter trading hours are Wednesday to Sunday, with lunch from 11am to 2.30pm and dinner from 5pm to 8.30pm. Function bookings are also welcome, and make sure you check out the new menu.
Don’t forget Friday Night Fun continues tonight. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm with draws at 7pm, and happy hour is 6pm to 7pm.
