There was some justice for the Bombers in their 44-point win, as Seymour was the side that caused an upset to beat them in last season’s grand final.
But the Barty Carver and Sean Dillon-coached Bombers made it clear from the opening bounce that such disappointment wasn’t going to happen again.
On a testing day weather-wise, the Bombers laid the foundations for the win by outscoring the home side when kicking against the breeze in the first term.
They kicked 2.1 to Seymour’s 1.3 and then added what was a match-winning 4.4 to 0.1 in the second term with the wind at their backs to establish a 32-point lead at the main break.
Seymour squandered chances in the third term when kicking with the wind, scoring 2.5 while the Bombers added 0.4.
The three-quarter time buffer swelled to 44 points by the end of the clash as the Bombers took almost total control in the last term to add 5.5 while restricting the home side to 1.4.
It was the finishing-off work of deep forwards Jarryd Pertzel, Will Wild and Ash Quinn that swung the game in Kyabram’s favour.
They kicked seven of Kyabram’s 11 goals, with Hunter Fawcett, Tom Bruhn, Cohan Hooper and Sean Dillon also hitting the bullseye to apply the additional scoreboard pressure.
The prime movers in Kyabram’s win came from their onball and midfield brigade.
Cult hero ruckman Brenton Brasier showed he is a big occasion player with a dominant display that had Kyabram consistently moving forward from the stoppages.
Onballer Noah Ryan also played a huge role in the win along with other midfielders and onballers in Miller Griffiths and Adam Pulsoni.
Kyabram’s defence was solid all day and led by in a professional manner by David Coulthard, who didn’t lack support.
The Bombers can book their spot in the grand final against the unbeaten Echuca when they tackle Shepparton in the preliminary final at Shepparton’s Deakin Reserve this Sunday.
