Mulwala started well and were controlling the early possessions but were unable to get the result on the scoreboard, missing crucial shots at goal that could have made the margin bigger at quarter time.
The second quarter was much of the same as Owen controlled the ball out of the middle allowing the run of Oscar Elliott and Charley McKenna to capitalize off his strong ruck work.
Jackson Meade was the only goalkicker for the quarter however, as Mulwala's inaccuracy gave them only a slender lead at half time although controlling most of the play.
Nathalia came out firing after half time with two quick goals to get within a goal of the lead, but Mulwala straightened with goals to Jackson, Charley and Max Hemphill to give themselves a four-goal lead heading into the last.
They needed every bit of that as Nathalia kept coming in the last but the brilliance of Kyal Tyson down back and Will Robinson and Joseph Bland through the middle allowed them to hold on for a well-deserved victory.

Reserves
Mulwala 15.14.104 def Nathalia 1.3.9.
Mulwala started the game well but a number of brain fades and undisciplined acts allowed Nathalia to stay in the match at quarter time.
The on-ball expertise of Jake MacKinnon and Brad Ward began working in tandem with the premier ruckman of the competition Austin Frauenfelder.
Mulwala soon took back control of the match as Seb Fernandez and Jaxen Wheeler made the most of the work up field to score heavily in the second and third quarters.
Jye Brennan was influential in the back half of the ground linking up nicely with Damien Cook on the wings as Mulwala rested some of the grumpier old men in the forward line and continued to surge away to a great victory.
Goals: J. Wheeler 4, S. Fernandez 3, D. Cornish 2, T. Cooper 2, J. Mackinnon 1, D. Cook 1, L. Wood 1, K. Abikhair 1.
Awards: One Zach - Jake MacKinnon, Mulwala Water Ski Club - Brad Ward, Corowa IGA - Jaxen Wheeler, YMH - Jye Brennan, Elite Concreting - Damien Cook and BSM Weld - Austin Frauenfelder.
Thirds
Mulwala 9.13.67 def Nathalia 3.2.20.
The Thirds started the game well through the midfield run of Beau Sissons and Axel Saunders as Jai Sneddon was the beneficiary of their fast ball movement forward. He was able to get on the end of some nice plays as he went about stretching the Nathalia defence like his lead on the goal kicking ladder.
Fletcher Woodhead was brilliant in defence all game and was assisted well by Henry Donovan who played the sweeping defender role to perfection.
Nash McNamara and Nate Leith continued to provide forward options as the midfield led by Maiko Leith and Miller Sanderson in the ruck took total control of the game.
The inaccuracy of the team in front of goals was the only downside to an otherwise great team effort that will give the team great confidence into next week playing fellow finals aspirants Moama.
Goals: J. Sneddon 4, L. Abikhair 1, A. Saunders 1, N. Leith 1, L. Tonna 1, H. Cooper 1.
Awards: Charlees Chicken - Jai Sneddon, Ricky D's Pizza - Beau Sissons, SP Plumbing - Axel Saunders, McNamara Stockagents - Fletcher Woodhead, O'Bryans Painting - Henry Donovan and MFNC - Nash McNamara.
Fourths
Mulwala 7.4.46 def Nathalia 3.2.20
An eagerly awaited game against another top four side.
The boys came out ready to play after a good week on the track. Nathalia scored first which kicked the Lions into action.
Levi, Byron and Finn kept the ball coming into the 50 with some clean ground work from Benji Watson and Lachy Brown resulting in quick goals.
An injury to big Richo forced the magnets around and Wally went back to shore up the backline.
Paddy Ryder took some great intercept marks to keep the game on Mulwala’s terms and late goals to Alan Gardner and Jack Sage kept the score in Mulwala’s favour.
An excellent team game today and onto Moama away.
Goals: Taj Parker 2, Benji Watson 2, Alan Gardner 1, Jack Sage 1, Finn Wood 1.

NETBALL
A Grade
Mulwala 31 def by Nathalia 54
A Grade unfortunately weren’t able to come away with the win this week.
Despite everyone’s persistence and determination, the team went down by 20 goals. The girls showed great effort and fought hard until the end but a few too many unforced errors throughout the game gave the opposition the edge.
There were still plenty of positives to take from the match and there were moments of great connection across the court.
With continued hard work and focus at training as A Grade are improving week by week as a team.
Awards: MFNC incentive - Tess McNamara, MFNC incentive - Ellie Lothian and MFNC incentive - Kristie James.

Mulwala came away with a thrilling two-goal win over Nathalia in what was a fiercely contested B Grade clash.
From the first whistle, it was clear both teams were out to prove a point, with intense pressure across the court and no easy ball given.
Mulwala’s defenders worked tirelessly all game, applying relentless pressure and forcing turnovers at crucial moments.
Down the other end, Mikyah was outstanding in goals, shooting with impressive accuracy and smartly working the ring to create space—keeping the Nathalia defenders on their toes all match.
It was a solid team effort from Mulwala, showing great composure and grit under pressure.
The team stuck to their structures, remained calm in key moments, and dug deep to secure the win in a nail-biting finish.
A hard-earned and well-deserved victory for Mulwala B Grade.

So the scoreboard doesn’t show what the girls achieved this week. Even though the other team wasn’t exactly serving all-star energy, they still made the Lionesses work for it.
But the Mulwala girls? Slayed. Period. The hustle was real, the teamwork was cleaner than your mum’s house after guests come over, and the way the young Lions moved the ball?
Like it was hot gossip and they had to get it to the group chat asap.
Defence? Basically had the other team locked up like a phone with a forgotten password.
Everyone was on that ball like it was the last Malteser at a sleepover. Mid-court ran like their lives depended on it, talking cardio queens with zero chill and full commitment.
If there was a Fitbit involved, it exploded. Goalies were under the pump, but still pulled off some wizard-level goals like it was Hogwarts Netball Club.
And then… there was BONNIE. She was literally everywhere. If the coaches had a dollar for every time someone said “Bonnie again?!” they could fund a team holiday to Bali.
In short, the vibes were high, the energy was on point, and the Malteser-hunger was unmatched.
Great job girls. It was a skipity toilet rizz moment with a ghat level 10 crash out. Don’t ask what that means, as the scribe has no clue.
