The Mulwala Lions have roared up to third on the Murray League seniors’ ladder after an emphatic 133-point win over Rumbalara at Lonsdale Reserve.
The big win was the perfect way to celebrate Sean Robinson’s 300th senior game.
Described as one of the cleverest footballers ever to play for Mulwala, Robinson helped himself to four goals in his team’s important percentage booster.
The Lions again came out firing in the first quarter and kept the momentum going until the fourth, posting 19 goals.
Mitch Tyson was again busy, kicking five goals, while brother Brodie and Kyal were named among the best players.
Will Cookson continued his strong season with another best-on-ground performance.
Rumbalara showed some fight in the final term, but the match was already well and truly over.
The Lions are again at home this Saturday to face seventh-placed Tongala.

Mulwala Reserves sent a clear warning to the rest of the competition after producing a ruthless 67-point victory over Rumbalara on Saturday.
Despite wet conditions and a slippery football, the Lions were unstoppable from the opening bounce, eventually storming to a commanding victory.
Mulwala’s midfield was so dominant that, at one stage, Rumbalara players were reportedly considering introducing a speed limit through the centre square.
The Lions started steadily before finding top gear in the second quarter. By half time, they had built a handy 16-point buffer, but what followed after the main break could only be described as a footballing mugging.
Mulwala piled on the pressure, contested possessions and scoreboard pain, booting six goals to none after half time, while Rumbalara’s defenders were left looking like traffic cones in a training drill.
Leading the charge was Jake Mackinnon, who was everywhere at once. Spectators claimed they saw him taking marks in the forward line, winning clearances in the middle and somehow directing traffic in the car park during quarter time.
Jaxen Wheeler gathered possessions at will, Mitchell Appleby controlled the play with class, while Beau Sissons and Dylan Flanagan attacked every contest as though the football owed them money.
Christopher Menzies capped off a stellar team performance, helping ensure Mulwala’s grip on the contest never loosened.
The final siren was greeted with relief from the Rumbalara camp and disappointment from Mulwala supporters, who felt another quarter may have pushed the score into “missing person’s report” territory.
The 67-point triumph leaves the Lions full of confidence and sends a strong message to rival clubs.
Goals: J. Wheeler 3, B. Sissons 3, B. Johnson 1, D. Flanagan 1, L. Saunders 1, Z. Wheeler 1, J. Mackinnon 1, M. O'Bryan 1, M. Appleby 1.
Best: Jake Mackinnon, Jaxen Wheeler, Mitchell Appleby, Beau Sissons, Dylan Flanagan, Christopher Menzies.

With no thirds game this week, the boys enjoyed a bit of a sleep-in before arriving with positive vibes and ready to take on the challenge ahead.
With Rumbalara a few players short, eight of the Mulwala boys showed great sportsmanship by volunteering to rotate across each quarter to help out. It was fantastic to see them step up and support the opposition.
The game started a little slowly, but Mulwala found its rhythm in the second half and began to play some great football. The boys are really embracing their new rotation system, which has helped keep the game flowing smoothly and given everyone opportunities across the ground.
Colin Lowry and Zeke Small played their roles superbly, working hard wherever they were needed. Harley Dunlop attacked every contest at full force and was rewarded with his first goal for the club, a special moment for him.
Hunter Beams was busy in the forward line, creating opportunities and getting among it, while Jacob Richardson played one of his best games of the season, giving his all from start to finish.
The boys worked together as a team, always getting around each other, and were rewarded with a convincing win, finishing the day more than 100 points ahead. It was a great team effort all round.
Goals: B. Ferguson 4, R. Leith 4, F. Mitchell 4, D. Bromley 2, N. Cook 1, R. Leary 1, C. Lowry 1, J. Stephens 1, M. Purtle 1, H. Dunlop 1.
Best: N. Cook, D. Bromley, F. Mitchell, Z. Small, R. Leith, C. Lowry.

In a close and challenging contest, the Mulwala Lions A Grade girls finished the game with a 12-goal victory.
The match was tight in the first half, with only two goals separating the teams at quarter time and one goal separating them at half time.
After a slow start with multiple changes, Rumbalara took the lead.
The Lions then settled, dug deep and were able to flip the game their way, finishing the third quarter with a pleasing lead.
The Lions had a great last quarter, capitalising on strong defensive pressure, turnovers galore, smart pass selections and some great play between the Stephs in the goal ring.
All players should be proud of the hard-fought team effort.

The team started the game a little slowly and was 10 goals down at quarter time, which made it difficult to catch up.
Kat was accurate with her shooting and worked well with Gracie, who moved strongly around the goal ring to create opportunities.
Belle and Jem faced some tough opposition in defence and worked hard throughout the entire game.
It was a solid team effort from everyone, with players supporting each other across the court.
Unfortunately, the team did not come away with the win, but there were plenty of positive moments and great determination shown by all.

The rain held off as the girls took on Rumbalara at home this week.
They came out strong in the first quarter and gave themselves a 10-goal lead at the first break.
The goals kept coming in the second quarter and, at half time, they led by 22 goals.
Early in the third quarter, they hit the mercy rule, reaching a 30-goal difference. However, the whole team continued playing with integrity and sportsmanship.
It was a full team effort from one end of the court to the other, and it was great to see the girls putting into practice the things they have been working hard on at training.
This week’s award winners were Charlotte Sim, who took home the Commercial Building Solutions $10 cash award, and Alana Hehir, who took home the Papalias voucher.
Both girls showed strength and consistency while being versatile and playing in positions out of their comfort zones at times.
Well done to both girls.
