With a grand final berth on offer, the senior group made the long trek to the Echuca United ground and were met with blustery conditions against the ladder leading Congupna.
The first quarter saw the team start off well through the great ball use of Oscar Elliott and Lewis Taylor and the outside speed of Van Kreeck.
Some dubious umpiring decisions enabled Congupna to score multiple times and take a four-goal lead into quarter time.
The desperation and intent was evident from all players in the second quarter as Beau Seymour took control of the forward half and the Mulwala backline led by Lach Rouel and Max Hemphill were applying strong tackling pressure on the classy Congupna forwards.
The injury to Kyal Tyson saw sub Jai Sneddon enter the ground and he equipped himself brilliantly in defense.
The second half became a dour contest as Mulwala matched it with Congupna on the scoreboard as their tackling and pressure on their opponents with the ball ensured that Congupna weren't able to capitalize on their fast ball movement from half back. Fortunately, the team has had a great year enabling them the second chance and the admirable loss sends them into the preliminary final this week for the chance to meet Congupna again in the grand final in two weeks time.

A Father's day special at Numurkah saw the young thirds victorious in a brilliant display of confidence building football.
Although a tight contest in the first quarter, Mulwala used the wind to their advantage and were able to take a slender lead into quarter time.
Against the breeze in the second quarter and Mulwala's run and carry through Van Kreeck, Beau Sissons and Tige Sanderson, Mulwala were able to slice through the midfield setting up some brilliant forward attacks from Baxter and Sonny O.
The defense of Miller Sanderson, Archer Kirchen and Rhys Burgess were stifling in their attack on the ball and man in the backline not allowing Deni to take any advantage of the wind.
Declan Wood was brilliant in the ruck and around the ground all game but particularly in the last quarter when Deni looked to be attacking with the wind.
The whole Mulwala team rose up to another level to take the game away from them with a commanding four goal quarter that saw them advance to the Preliminary final and one step closer to their ultimate goal for 2025.

A Grade
Mulwala 37 def by Tongala 41
With the wet and miserable conditions, it just wasn’t the Lionesses day. The girls fought hard and with the scores locked at three-quarter time, the game was still anyone’s. Unfortunately, the A Grade couldn’t quite get over the line, going down by four in the end.
It has been a great year and the coaches and supporters are still very proud of the girls’ efforts and commitment throughout the season.
A Grade walk away with heads held high, bring on 2026.
Best of luck to the remaining teams in the finals.
B Grade
Moama 53 def Mulwala 33
In wet conditions, Moama came out strong and took an early lead, finishing ahead 53–33.
Mulwala persisted all day, adapting to changes and fighting hard right until the final whistle.
It was a great effort from every player, and the team enjoyed their last game together. This season has been full of growth, teamwork and determination, and the coaches and supporters are so proud of how far the team has come.
B Grade now look forward to regrouping and going again next year, stronger than ever.
C Grade
Mulwala 27 def by Echuca United 40.
Not a good result for the C Grade netballers this week, playing in cold wet conditions, with Echuca barely missing a goal. The Lions girls fought endlessly and never gave up, although some would like a rematch in dry conditions.

Moama 33 def Mulwala 29
The nerves were high, but the girls came out strong and fought hard all game.
With a two goal lead at half time it really could have gone anyone’s way.
Excellent defensive pressure right across the court. So proud of the team.
Good luck next week – you’ve got this.
