Yarrawonga Bowls Club’s Koby Cromie is also representing Victoria, in the Under 18’s event. He is also an Ovens and Murray bowler.
Playing first up, Yarrawonga’s Koby Cromie and pairs partner Will May won a Gold Medal in the Under 18 Boys Pairs.
Laureen and Claire are playing in the Over 60s. Anne and Wangaratta’s Ian Brimblecombe are contesting the Mixed event, having become Victorian champions in May.
“We’re very excited to go, to represent our club and state,” Anne said. Their selection is an excellent achievement.
Mary Tragarde from Yackandandah, Sharon Warfe of Benalla and Wodonga’s Kylie Whitehead are the other O and M representatives.
YMGCR’s three representatives were buoyant when spoken to by the Yarrawonga Chronicle before leaving for Broadbeach last Saturday. “It will be awesome,” Anne said. “We want to bring home the goods. It’s a tough competition.” Claire commented: “It will be really competitive and we’re ready.” Laureen added: “We’ll give it a go!”
The nationals, which is a combined event for Under 18s, Disability entrants, Over 60s, Men’s and Ladies Open, and Mixed run from September 30 to October 14.
