In what was a perfect day for football out at Rennie, the Senior Tungamah Bears dismissed the Hoppers in the sunshine.
With the zinc strongly applied, the Seniors had a Justin Saunders clinic to watch before running out themselves.
The main story of the day for the last game of the regular season was Ned McKeown goals tally.
Coming into the match, he needed 12 goals to get to the 100 mark and unfortunately fell two goals short, after another big bag of 10.
With all his family and friends there in attendance, McKeown tried his absolute heart out, as did Ben Beaton in the last quarter.
However, with Rennie using Alistair Clarkson’s tactics against Fevola back in the 2008 AFL season, they made it tough for him to get.
The big red shed finished the home and away season on 98 goals which is an unbelievable effort, and he will have the chance to get the 100 next Sunday in the first game of the finals campaign.
During all this goal kicking excitement, there was drama, raw emotion and multiple welfare checks on the officials.
Two of Tungamah’s finest were sent from the field and told not to return.
Josh Cheek was in the thick of it, as he battled hard; emotion was clearly on display.
The other, was the runner of the side, Tom Lidgerwood, the very writer of this very report, so consider this damage control but with flair.
Banished for the heinous crime of having an opinion near an umpire.
From giving out messages to making a dramatic exit that Shakespeare would’ve been proud of.
After more ups and downs than a dinner party on married at first sight the game had some quality moments.
One for the tear jerkers was Damian Payne getting to play in his 150th senior game at Tungamah, which would be one of his proudest achievements only to be beaten in the same game as he played in his son’s debut.
Chase’s first ever senior game, great father son moment and one that made fans around the ground recognise that Chases’ arms are bigger than his fathers.
Tungamah had nine different goal kickers in the game which showed how much some blokes didn’t want to try and get Ned to the 100 goals.
Proper outright selfishness.
With the big win, the Seniors will now play their first final next Sunday at Tocumwal in a win or go home match.
The elimination final will be against Picola who beat Tungamah brutally earlier in the year, in which was a heartbreaking end to the game in the final seconds.
So safe to say there’s a bit more feeling in this one.

The lunchtime legends took on cross-town rivals Rennie in a good, hard game, coming away with the win and a ticket straight to a week off in finals.
The scribe wrote Beats copped one in the noggin, Kellock and Ash Scott joined the ever-growing injury ward, and Jezza Kelly was pinching both the ball and the votes.
Tom Irvine could’ve had 10 but the delivery wasn’t as wayward as the wind in Chicago. Connell proved he’s still got it, and Velvet remained craftier than an arts and crafts expo.

B Grade
Rennie 37 def by Tungamah 59
A very determined B Grade side travelled to Rennie on Saturday to take on the Hoppers. With a focus on strong starts, the team hit the court switched on and ready to play.
B Grade’s intensity paid off early, taking control of the game and heading into the first break with a commanding 19–6 lead.
Strategic position changes in the second quarter extended the margin to 15 by halftime. Position rotations continued in the second half, but the side maintained their composure and kept the scoreboard pressure on, securing a convincing 22-goal win. The three shooters were in top form, combining beautifully and showing great versatility under pressure.
The midcourt worked hard, using the channels smartly and communicating with precision throughout the game.
In defence, B Grade stood tall, applying pressure and making Rennie work for every goal.
With this win, B Grade finishes the season as minor premiers and earns a well-deserved week off as we prepare for the finals.

C Grade
Rennie 37 def Tungamah 32
They say all good things must come to an end and for C Grade, the seasons end came with a fight right to the very last whistle.
With calls so generous it had Rennie C Grade wondering if they’d accidentally gate crashed a Collingwood home game at the MCG, the Bears knew they were in for a battle. Bridie, Jorja, and Jade turned into security guards at a Taylor Swift concert; no one getting through without a fight and a stern look.
Dim, Issy, and Chels worked harder than a kid trying to milk the wrong end of a cow, somehow finding a smile between the grind.
Rahni and Bern gave Swan Lake meets dodgeball - gracefully gliding up and down the court while dodging debris flying their way.
Dan, Illa, and Remi gave the ‘old ducks’ a parting gift, a goaling clinic so good it probably needs to be rated.
Meanwhile, Bette’s stat sheet was so perfect it could be framed in the clubrooms. Special mention to Dim’s dad who probably watches more netball than any dad in history and absolutely deserves a beer heading into finals.
Sure, the scoreboard didn’t go C Grade’s way, but they leave the middle of nowhere with their heads high, their voices ready to cheer the rest of the Bears home, and just enough sass to keep things interesting.
Respect all, fear none, question everything.
Awards: Tungamah Pub – Dan, Ricky D's – Dim, Jaycee's – Jorja, Players Player – Jade.

Despite a few position changes throughout the game, everyone adapted well and performed strongly in their roles.
With the sun out, it warmed up a little, but the team stayed composed and pushed through.
One key area the Under 15s wish to address are their sideline throw ins: with room for future improvement.
