Ladder leaders Yarrawonga A Grade produced another commanding performance on Saturday, defeating Corowa by 32 goals while celebrating two remarkable milestones for club stalwarts Bridget Cassar and Laura Irvine.
Cassar marked her 300th Ovens and Murray A Grade appearance in style, delivering a dominant display in the goal circle. Alongside captain Laura Irvine, who qualified for Ovens and Murray Life Membership in her 250th A Grade game, the experienced duo proved unstoppable.
Their outstanding connection and movement completely dismantled the Corowa defence throughout the contest.
Maddy Allan was equally influential in the shooting circle, helping drive the Pigeons to an impressive total of 64 goals.
The attacking brilliance was built on a superb defensive effort, with Liv Lovell, Maisee Pell and Hannah Symes continually shutting down Corowa's scoring opportunities and forcing repeated turnovers.
Kristy Davis made an immediate impact in her return to Ovens and Murray A Grade, while Kylie Leslie, Annalise Grinter and Eva Cummins all played important roles in another polished team performance.
Yarrawonga controlled every area of the court and appeared to hit their stride in attack, showcasing excellent connection and ball movement across all thirds.
The convincing victory further cemented the Pigeons' position at the top of the ladder and highlighted the depth and quality throughout the side.

B Grade
Yarrawonga 39 defeated Corowa 28
Yarrawonga delivered a statement performance against the previously undefeated Corowa-Rutherglen, overturning their earlier loss with an impressive 11-goal victory.
Determined to address the slow starts that had plagued them in recent weeks, Yarrawonga came out with strong intent from the opening whistle.
Their early momentum set the tone for the match and ensured they remained in control across all four quarters.
The versatility and depth of the side were on full display, with every combination taking the court contributing seamlessly. The ability to rotate players without losing structure or intensity highlighted the strength of the squad when performing at its best.
The return of Abbey Jones added valuable depth and flexibility, strengthening Yarrawonga’s line-up and allowing for greater balance across the court. The shooting circle in Ellie Dickins, Sarah Moore and Grace Eales did not miss a beat.
In defence, Lauren Nolan, Jac Oswald, Kira Dickins and Grace Stillard worked cohesively to apply constant pressure and generate turnovers.
Their effort was instrumental in limiting Corowa-Rutherglen’s scoring opportunities and creating attacking chances for their own side.
Building on a disciplined defensive performance and consistent attacking execution, Yarrawonga turned the tables on their earlier meeting to secure a well-earned win against one of the competition’s benchmark teams.
C Grade
Yarrawonga 44 defeated Corowa 39
The girls knew it would be a close contest heading into this round's matchup, having gone down by just one goal to Corowa in their previous meeting. This time, however, the Pigeons came away with a hard-fought 44–39 victory.
It was a physical game from start to finish, but the team showed great composure under pressure.
The girls utilised their defensive resets effectively and demonstrated patience in attack, resisting the temptation to force the ball into the goal circle.
Their defensive pressure across the court was outstanding and played a key role in securing the win.
Breanna Strawhorn was a deserving recipient of the Coach's Award, bringing consistency, calmness, and control through the midcourt throughout the game.
The Players' Player award went to Briar Rodaughan, or in Spanish also known as Mamacita. Briar was a constant presence in goals, positioning herself well, transitioning the ball effectively, and providing a strong target for her teammates all game.
Credit must also go to Corowa, who were strong across the court and proved to be quality opposition, making for an excellent contest.
Under 17s
Yarrawonga 56 defeated Corowa 34
Yarrawonga's Under 17s produced a polished team performance to defeat Corowa at JC Lowe Oval on Saturday, controlling the contest for much of the day with strong pressure, disciplined ball movement and a willingness to work hard for one another.
The Pigeons set the tone early by winning the contested ball and creating opportunities forward of centre, while Corowa battled hard and showed plenty of determination to stay in the contest.
Yarrawonga's defence was solid when challenged, and a dominant third quarter allowed the home side to extend its lead and take control of the match.
Corowa continued to compete strongly until the final siren, but the Pigeons' consistency across all four quarters proved the difference.
It was an impressive display from Yarrawonga's young group, with contributors across every line helping secure a well-earned victory and continue the side's strong form.
Under 15s
Yarrawonga 36 defeated Corowa 26
The U15s Netball team produced an outstanding performance against Corowa, coming away with an impressive 11-goal victory.
It was a fantastic team effort, with the girls showing consistency across the entire court from the opening whistle to the final siren. Their defensive pressure created numerous turnovers, and the team did an excellent job of converting those opportunities into scoreboard rewards.
The attackers displayed great patience and composure in the attacking third, working the ball carefully into the circle, while the shooters were accurate and reliable under pressure, helping the team maintain control throughout the match.
Awards for the game went to Millie Eales, who was voted Players’ Player for her outstanding contribution, and Ruby Driscoll, who received the Coaches’ Award for her strong performance and commitment to the team.
