A 13-3 record in 2025, resulting in a third-place finish on the ladder, seems a good result on paper for Nagambie’s senior netball side.
But the Lakers were left stinging when it came to September, having been bundled out in a shock elimination final loss to sixth-placed Tallygaroopna when a deep finals run was on the cards.
2026 shapes as a clean slate, however, and Nagambie has brought in perhaps the most well-credentialled coach across the Kyabram District League to help take the next step.
Ashley Chapman will helm the side this season, backed by years of experience in the high-performance pathways with Netball Victoria.
An Australian representative, the 2015 Goulburn Valley League A grade premiership coach with Seymour has also enjoyed success with Victoria in the under-17 division at state level, while also coaching the City West Falcons to multiple VNL premierships.
With a settled squad and armed with Chapman’s experience, expect the Lakers to make amends for their early exit last season, as they aim to challenge those in the league’s upper echelon this year.
