No road out for Mathoura

The on-field struggles of Mathoura continued in round nine of the Picola District Football Netball League, with its senior football and netball sides again suffering heavy defeats.

The Timbercutters hosted Katamatite in round nine, both Tigers outfits in healthy table position coming in.

In the senior football, Katamatite was quick to open the floodgates, firing through nine majors in the opening term.

Mathoura got its lone goal of the contest on the board in the second, courtesy of Kyle Magro, but the Tigers displayed ruthless efficiency to run the score past 200 against the Cutters for the third week running.

The match concluded with Katamatite 32.22 (214) far superior to Mathoura 1.2 (8).

Dylan Sidebottom capitalised on a big scoring match for his side, contributing nine of his side's goals.

Unfortunately for the Cutters faithful, the A-grade netball game was a similar story.

Katamatite demonstrated its quality, winning by more than 50 goals, 62-11.

The Cutters fought right to the end, more than doubling their score in the final term, but the Tigers were in cruise control through much of the contest.

Both the senior and A-grade sides have now started their campaigns winless through eight matches.

Mathoura will again go in a heavy underdog this weekend in another contest against quality opposition, the Cutters visiting Katandra on Saturday.
