YMGCR Men’s Nineholers results
Tuesday’s 2-Man Ambrose saw Frank Warren and Les Garbutt pair up to win on the Blue Executive course with a solid 31 from a combined handicap of five to take the honours on the day, shading the pairings of Stevie Hutchinson and Kerry Pendergast, and Dino LePore and Bob "Divi" Vann who fought out the minor placings in a countback, a quarter of a stroke behind on 31.25.
Also scoring well and winning a ball was Dave Hall and Col Rosser (32), and Ronnie "Smokey" Dawson and Mick Doran on 32.25.
On the Red, Corny Boers teamed with John Dixon to take the win with 31.5, to push Artie Massey and Norm Coleman into second with Keith Murray and Peter Ferguson coming in third on 33.5 with ball prizes to Steve Pegg and Eugene O'Connor, and Billy Hidson and Paul Byrne.
On Thursday it was the much sought after monthly Pot Cards, and Graeme Brookes took the honours on the Blue, edging Rod Sissons into the bridesmaid position, again in a countback with both scoring 28 strokes.
Billy "the kid" Hidson came close on 29, with ball prizes going to Peter Mansfield (30) and Peter Ferguson (31) , Ray Minette, Brendan O'Farrell, Neil Calder and Andrew Beattie.
On the Red, our very own bionic man Bomber Mitchell showed you cannot keep a good man down for long, winning the Pot Card by three strokes as his comeback into good health and good form continued.
Coming in second place was Greg House (33) followed by Stevie Hutchinson and Rod Newman (34), with Dave Hall (35) and 90th birthday boy Ted Latta and Kerry Pendergast (36), and Ray French and Ron Sharples (37) winning balls.
