Yarrawonga Mulwala Swimming Club celebrated an outstanding weekend at the Ovens & Murray Short Course Championships, with its team of 11 swimmers returning home with 17 medals and 19 personal best performances.

Competing against 144 swimmers from 11 clubs, Yarrawonga Mulwala claimed four gold, eight silver and five bronze medals in an impressive display across the championships.

Lara Angwin (17) led the medal tally with four medals, including gold in the 16 Years & Over 100m Butterfly and 100m Breaststroke, as well as a silver and a bronze. Emma Thomas (9) continued her outstanding season, winning gold in the 9 & Under 50m Breaststroke and adding two silver medals, while Darcy Cox (18) collected one gold and two silver medals and achieved two qualifying times for the upcoming Victorian Country Championships.

The team also recorded 19 personal best swims, highlighted by Alex Bridgeman (12), who cut an incredible 17.77 seconds from her 200m Breaststroke. Other standout improvements came from Alice Thomas (6.82 seconds in the 50m Breaststroke), Elyse Minogue (4.41 seconds in the 50m Freestyle), Flynn Cox (4.01 seconds in the 100m Breaststroke), Emma Thomas (4.00 seconds in the 100m Freestyle), Thomas Minogue (3.46 seconds in the 50m Backstroke), Jacob Halili (3.52 seconds in the 100m Breaststroke), Finn Angwin (2.84 seconds in the 100m Individual Medley) and Ella Hollister (2.11 seconds in the 100m Freestyle).

The club congratulated all 11 swimmers on their efforts and thanked coaches Kevin White and Jocelyn Cameron, along with the officials, volunteers and the Ovens & Murray District Swimming Association, for another successful championship meet.
With strong momentum continuing through the short course season, several Yarrawonga Mulwala swimmers now have their sights firmly set on the Victorian Country Championships.
