Over $40,000 raised for Jess

Premiership Pigeons Harry Wheeler and Jess Koopman, joined by diehard Pigeon supporter Bailey Brear, assisted to bring Christmas spirit to the main street last weekend, decorating the street in baubles and fairy lights. Jess was one of the first to put his hand up to help as a way to give back to the community who have assisted him greatly in the past couple of months.

The communities of Yarrawonga, Mulwala, the district and wider region all put their hands in their pockets recently to support Yarrawonga Football Netball Club Premiership Pigeon Jess Koopman after he suffered facial injuries due to an accident with a firework, with in excess of $40,000 raised.

“The YFNC and Jess are humbled by the support and generosity of our community, but not only our community, a number of donations came from opposition clubs and/or their major sponsors,” a statement by the YFNC read.

“Whilst our football and netball divides on Saturdays, when the siren blows, it is what brings us together as people with common values and aspirations.

“The YFNC would like to thank all those who helped in whatever way they could.”

Jess gave back to the community last weekend that not so long ago got together for him, as he got amongst bringing some Christmas spirit to Yarrawonga and was one of the first to put his hand up to decorate the main street.
