Lavington 53 def Yarrawonga 32.
It was a well contested start to the game at Lavington Sports Ground for the A grade team, in what would be a big challenge for the Pigeons.
Lavington steamed ahead to a 9-goal lead at half time and continued to extend on this to consolidate a significant win.
The girls in defence created great pressure to generate turnovers, though unfortunately attempts to convert these were unsuccessful.
Hannah Symes was pivotal in the defensive circle, coming up against arguably the toughest GS opponents in the competition.
Laura Ryan and Laura Davis applied great pressure and linked together to transition the ball from defence to attack.
The league will have a bye this weekend, allowing the team to get together to work hard prior to taking on Myrtleford in round 15.

Lavington 47 def Yarrawonga 42.
B grade came up against a strong Lavington side, who were up for a tough contest right from the start.
Annalise Grinter, Amy Barnes and Chloe Wheaton had a huge task in front of them playing against some very tall shooters.
The girls battled it out, providing many opportunities for the attack end to score. Maddie Kennedy and Eliana Martin had moments of strong play.
In the end too many mistakes all over the court proved to be costly. The girls will be looking forward to improving in their next game against Myrtleford.

Lavington 33 drew with Yarrawonga 33.
From the first centre pass the Pigeons were pumped and ready to take on the ladder leaders and last year’s premiers Lavington.
The defensive end worked tirelessly and the pressure was consistent generating many turnovers for the girls in attack to play a pivotal role to bring the ball through the centre.
Talk on the court from Elle Christian for four quarters really kept the team pumped. The shooters were under so much pressure especially in the last minutes of the games when scores were close.
Whilst the Pigeons missed a few opportunities throughout the game the two teams ended with 33 goals each.
Great job girls.

It was a beautiful day in Lavington this week. The girls had a tough fought win against number 7th on the ladder.
It was close all game but everyone did a great job to stay calm and end up with the win. Morgan McRae had an excellent game controlling the defence alongside Mikyah Frauenfelder who had a great game.
Overall the girls had a great win and hope to reset after a week’s break.

Saturday saw the Pigeons take on the Lavington Panthers on a cold miserable day.
Once again, the girls demonstrated another display of just how much the youngest Pigeon team have improved over the season.
The first quarter was strong, with the girls matching the Panthers.
Quarter two saw the Panthers take their lead, however there were plenty of strong defensive plays with multiple turnovers from the Pigeons girls.
The girls were able to get the ball moving down to the attacking end but unfortunately scoring shots didn’t come easy with the Panther’s strong defence also on display.
The girls get to rest their legs for a little with the bye coming up this week.
