Strathmerton lost 44-50
What a task we had on our hands with both of our coaches away, who are both key players on court as well. Luckily for us, we have an incredible A/B squad and our B grade girls were able to step up and help us out. We had some great passages of play and defensive turnovers, even with new combinations.
Zoe played an exceptional game, getting numerous turnovers from her front position and bringing the ball down effortlessly.
Kell’s height in the ring was not the only advantage she brought, with amazing talk, leadership and direction in the attacking end as well as being able to compose herself and shoot goals! Our captain, Ness, really brought her all, playing in numerous positions so the team could benefit from her talk, drive down court and strong passes.
We didn’t get the four points, but it’s definitely put fire in our bellies to regroup and come back next week even better.

We came up against Jerilderie for the second time this season and managed to hold the Demons to almost half of what they scored against us last time.
Joy played a huge role in shutting down their attack end, her footwork and ability to get around her opponents is amazing to watch and even defending at 4ft, her reach over the shot is incredible. She was unstoppable this weekend, backing up her ripper performance with us in B to continue on with three quarters in A Grade doing the same thing.
Down the other end of the court, our ever-reliable Chea took a fair few hard hits and still managed to compose herself to shoot some long bombs. Chea’s been working hard on her baseline drives (with some great screening from Kiara) and she nailed them today!
No ‘rejections’ from Millsy this weekend, so she was lucky to find herself on the receiving end of an award.
Off to Yarroweyah next week, where we’ll focus on our team structures and dance moves (set plays) before a well-earned break with the general bye.

Strathmerton won 48-40
Our second clash with Jerilderie this season, and it was an intense and competitive encounter.
Both teams started well, it was goal for goal right up until the last five minutes of the first quarter where we managed to get five goals up.
The second quarter saw our momentum continue, some great passages of play where the whole team banded together with great connections on the court.
While it was a tough day for our defenders, everyone kept their heads up and kept the pressure on.
Elle and Tam were brilliant in goals and shot beautifully — it was a joy to watch! — notching up 31 goals by half-time.
We had a bit of a scare in the third quarter, Jerilderie came back strong and got within five goals, but to the girls’ credit, despite quite a bit of action happening on the court, a few unfortunate injuries to the opposition, we stayed strong and focused on getting the win.
Overall, a very tough game, but proud of everyone’s efforts. It shows what we can do when we all play for each other as a team. Great job, girls!

When the coaches are away, the cats come out to play. Carkeek coach sisters may’ve been absent, but the instructions left were crystal: limit Tee’s caffeine consumption, no nonsense from the Anderson sisters and no injuries.
Surprisingly, everyone was on their best behaviour. OxyShred Duhring continued her belter of a season in GA, alongside both Belle and Stephy in GS.
Tee was on fire in GK — bulk intercepts; must’ve been all that weird Pokémon talk pre-game.
Renee and Katie were somehow allowed to be off in the final quarter together, where they ate all the good lollies, and gifted us all with insane/unhinged cheering.
Finally, Gracie Muck gave us a good scare early in the second quarter, calling time for a hammie. Luckily though, only a tweak. Crisis averted.

Our girls came vibing and ready to give it a red-hot crack. After making a wonderful lolly salad we were ready to hit the court.
Our first quarter gave us opportunities to match the strong opposition but unfortunately it didn’t quite go that way!
Our girls kept resetting each quarter, kept the positive talk up and kept driving forward. As always they made me proud.
We still had plenty of ‘that looks like fun, girls’ opportunities and lots of smiles and laughs.
Kenz played a blinder, especially in WA, giving our team a strong drive and perfectly placed passes into the ring.
Makka again showing how strong she is in the goal ring sinking impressive shots (all day).
Ash showed great leadership playing different roles and always putting the team’s needs first.
The scoreboard didn’t reflect our game and how hard our girls played all day!
Due to low numbers we had three superstar under 15s that all took the court and didn’t look out of play one bit. Thank you Jess, Lexi and Lilly.

We went out hoping to get the four points but unfortunately it didn’t go our way. We hit the lead many of times but obstacles just keep coming at us.
Our defenders worked tirelessly all game as we rotated in height and fresh legs while our attackers, Lexi and Soph, shot confidently, capitalising on the team’s hard work. Our wing ding, Ava, who’s grown so much this year, made a few intercepts in our last quarter but we just couldn’t get the turnovers down the court.
We’ll be going out against Yarroweyah as hungry as ever. Let’s give it everything we have and show them what we stand for.

Our girls had a cracking game. We quickly took the lead, dropped a bit in the second quarter, but pushed for that lead in the third and fourth quarters.
Progressing from a loss by one at the start of the season to a win by nine shows how much our girls have improved. They came out firing with great drives down the court and steady, thought-out passes.
Each girl showed they could switch from attack to defence when the ball had been turned over. It was a great team game to watch.
Lily played a ripper game going from GK to WD to WA. She starred in each spot and slotted in perfectly, bringing everything we asked of her.
Jasmine had her first game in defence and it definitely won’t be her last, positioning herself perfectly to deflect most passes coming her way. Claudia yet again was a star player, running C all game, keeping her head strong in the game, turning over balls and feeding perfectly into our shooters.
You should all be super proud! On to Yarroweyah — let’s get another win on the board, girls!

Our second time coming up against Jerilderie this year gave us an opportunity to see the improvement in our girls’ game since round one and it was the best game of netball I’ve seen them play all year.
Our drives and leads into space were spot on, and our goalers put a heap of shots up! Liana’s footwork has improved so much and it’s had a positive impact on the rest of her game. She led beautifully in attack and shot well when in goals.
Sienna played her best game of the season, she was tight in defence, getting numerous tips and intercepts, and helped move the ball through the midcourt well.
Maisie played an absolute blinder in GA, making the most of her opportunities at post and driving into space beautifully.
Madi had a great game in the wings, switching from attack to defence seamlessly and was always available when needed.
Great game by all 10 girls today, their hard work is paying off. I’m a very proud coach and mum!

Seniors
Strathmerton won 13.3.81 to 3.5.23
After a convincing win against Toc, we looked to carry confidence across to take on Jerilderie.
Once again, we started well, kicking the first few goals of the game. Danny Buzza and Sam Lewis were great through the centre of the ground on a day where we had to match Jerilderie’s strength over the football.
It was a match played in two different halves for us. Being able to get on top of our opponents in the first half but then not being able to go on with it to record a big win.
Jerilderie’s pressure definitely played a big part in that, as well as some of our poor decision-making.
We will take the four points but also know we have plenty to work on going forward.
Jordan Crestani generated plenty of pace at half back, while Matt Shannon picked up where he left off before his injury, putting in a solid game across half forward.

Strathmerton won 13.11.89 to 3.4.22
The boys hit the ground with a bit of a different side due to injuries. The inclusion of father-son duo Shannon and Jayden Edgar up forward, kicking five between them, worked well.
Also the inclusion of a few thirds boys to make up the numbers also helped. The boys fought the day out in the end to emerge comfortable winners.

Fourths
With a crisp morning upon us, the sun was shining and our fourths put together a great team game to take the win over a competitive Jerilderie side.
Everyone played for each other and worked hard on keeping the positive talk up.
The Demons didn’t give up and came back hard in the third quarter; however, the last quarter saw our team hold its composure and secure a fantastic win.

Fifths
Another weekend with Jerilderie having no fifths team but that didn’t stop our littlest pups for still wanting a game of footy against their teammates.
There were some impressive goals scored and our celebrating skills are getting better every week.
All the kids encouraged each other through the whole game and everyone had a great morning playing the game we all love, which is awesome to see.
