The night hosted by Phil Conway commenced with an award of Life Membership to long time trainer Graeme McKenzie. His award was accepted graciously by fellow long-time trainer and fellow life member Graham Knight.
Three significant milestones were acknowledged being: 200 Club games - Breanna Strawhorn, 250 Club games - Laura Irvine and 250 A-Grade games - Bridget Cassar.
Each of these three netballers have made significant contribution to the Pigeons but in particular Bridget was recognised for what she achieved on Grand Final Day: a premiership, the best on court award and life membership of the league.
The Godfather Award was presented to Craig Frauenfelder in recognition of not only his great coaching effort at the club over many years but also for the selfless nature in which he goes about many duties at the club from acting as a trainer waterboy or genuine goal sneak in the reserves.
The other major club award, the John Dempsey Award was presented to Vicky Long. For many years Vicky has single handily driven the club’s social media presence whilst also performing the club Secretary role and also attending to all the administrative matters of the netball each match.
Club President Ross Mulquiney clearly articulated the sterling role Vicky fills, and the huge crowd were simply delighted when Vicky was announced the winner.
The last award of the night was the awarding of life membership to Scott Oswald. The 7th player to reach the 200 senior game milestone, Scott was presented his life membership by club legend Glenn Brear. A popular now veteran of the club Scott’s acceptance speech brought the house down.
The Tracey Gillies Medallist (A Grade B&F) was awarded to Laura Irvine for an amazing season with the runners up going to Kylie Leslie.
The CT Runnalls Medal (Seniors B&F) went to Leigh Masters for the 2nd year in a row and will sit nicely with his 2022 Morris Medal.
